We were right, even though he's one of the US' greatest national security threats, #Musk has leverage over the USG. Our govt is powerless against the richest man in the world. However, the admin is holding his cos., #SpaceX #Tesla, responsible for multiple violations.
“Musk effectively sabotaged a military operation by Ukraine, a US ally, against Russia, an aggressor country, that invaded a US. Should there be repercussions for that?” Tapper asked. SOS Blinken punted:
https://www.mediaite.com/tv/none-of-this-concerns-you-jake-tapper-presses-blinken-for-tip-toeing-after-musk-sabotaged-ukrainian-offensive-against-russia/
That story has been debunked by its primary source, though.
No, Musk didn’t sabotage a military operation in Ukraine, according to the original writer that’s been cited. Instead, Musk was asked for help, and he declined to help.
That’s not sabotage; it’s a decision to not get involved.
The US government acts against Musk and his interests all the time. See, for example, the FAA’s recent ruling against a flight license for SpaceX.
This whole story about US vs Musk is just sensationalist clickbait, not reality.
@KimPerales We've known publicly since October 2022 that Musk turned off Starlink connections at critical moments in the war, costing the lives of thousands of Ukrainian civilians.
"The letters come amid recent reports of wide-ranging Starlink outages as Ukrainian troops attempt to retake ground occupied by Russia."
The Pentagon was supposedly looking for alternatives but they renewed Starlink's contract. I'd like Sec Austin to explain why.
