The #DOGE cuts so far aren't enough to make a dent in the nat debt or offset Trump’s proposed tax cuts for the wealthy. Nor do they make govt more efficient, which'd require a thoughtful assessment. No evidence of “fraud waste & abuse.”
But as a means to push the nation closer to mass privatization of services? Now the cuts make sense -little need of a robust NWS if forecasting is going to be farmed out to private companies. Ditto for the USPS...

@KimPerales problem with the NWS example is that those private companies are mostly just repackaging the NWS data. And, sure, there was an article in science about using a predictive neural net instead of the massive climate models, but those things aren’t going to account for bigger changes. They’re reasonably accurate, but in the same way that the a line tangent to a curve is reasonably accurate. It’s fine for this part of the curve and gets steadily - or dramatically - worse the further away you go.

The only way to cut the US National Debt is to scale back its military.
BUT, without it, the Dollar would cease to be a reserve currency and its banking system would implode overnight.
I remain convinced more wars are started by the Yanks over protecting PetroDollars etc than anything else.
