Brilliance or blasphemy? In 2012 Toronto alternative rock duo #TheDarcys reinterpreted one of the greatest albums of all time, #SteelyDan's #Aja. They made a short film. Love it.
@WilliamRobert Holy moly. How is it I've never heard of this? Fuzzy-ass guitars taking on one of my favourite slabs from the 70s? What's not to love. (See also: Bardo Pond's version of In Every Dream Home A Heartache.)
@Bishopjoey Yeah, that was my response, with jaw on the floor as I listened to the album this morning on Spotify: The side with Black Cow, Aja & Deacon Blues is great, but the original can't be improved on. But songs like Home at Last, I Got the News & Josie always sounded slightly poppy to me. Here they explode into widescreen vista-vision. #Stunning. Will check out Bardo Pond.
@Bishopjoey Wow -- Bardo Pond is a deep dive. A guy could get lost--in a good way. Thx!
@WilliamRobert I know! I mostly just know the covers EPs, but there's a lot of joy in the catalogue.
