For those unfamiliar, the KGB launched an Active Measures campaign immediately following the assassination to pin the blame on the CIA. Joachim Joesten and Mark Lane led the charge, with many building on their work. Putin wants to 'settle' the matter once and for all.

@davetroy I've already seen the wing nuts on YouTube cheerleading a narrative that the JFK dump will be the end of the CIA and the FBI. Putin couldn't have planned it better in his wildest dreams.
