"On the morning of March 25, farmworker organizer Alfredo 'Lelo' Juarez was forcibly detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents who stopped his car while he was driving his wife to work in Skagit County, Washington. People to whom Juarez has spoken say he requested to see a warrant, and when he attempted to get his ID after being asked, the ICE agents smashed his car window and detained him."

Alfredo Lelo Juarez speaks to farmworkers about the H-2A guest worker program.
Truthout · With Detention of Beloved Farmworker Organizer, ICE Comes for the Labor MovementBy Derek Seidman

"Twenty-five-year-old Juarez helped found Familias Unidas Por La Justicia, an independent farmworker union in Washington State, in 2013, when he was just a young teenager. He has advocated around issues like overtime pay, heat protections for farmworkers and the exploitative nature of the H-2A guest worker program."

"Juarez is a beloved member of the Indigenous Mixteco farmworker community, and there’s been an outpouring of support for him across Washington State and the entire country."

Edgar Franks says, "We believe his detention is politically motivated because of his organizing in the farmworker and immigrant community. We believe he was targeted. The way that ICE detained him was meant to intimidate."

"These are real people. They are on U.S. soil. What has been happening to them and many of the over 46 000 other people currently being held by ICE is a massive human rights violation that is already killing people."

"There is going to soon come a point when it’s going to get harder and harder to write individual stories about each of these outrages, because we won’t be physically able to keep up with Trump’s body count.

But we have to try, and we cannot look away. Don’t forget their names."

Wonkette · Oops, ICE Did A Boo-Boo! Oh Well, Enjoy Slavery Prison In El Salvador, Innocent Guy!By Evan Hurst

As Judd Legum notes, having admitted that it made an "administrative" mistake in deporting Abrego Garcia, the Trump administration is now doubling down and claiming there's evidence he's a gang member — when no such evidence exists:

"This is a lie. Abrego Garcia was never 'convicted' of being an MS-13 gang member.

Popular Information · Choosing lawlessnessBy Judd Legum

"That this is a lie is a matter of public record. DHS and ICE are not sitting on secret records showing Abrego Garcia is a convict. If they were, they would release them. Instead, the public record is what his lawyers wrote in a filing this week, an assertion the government did not dispute in its response: 'Abrego Garcia has never been arrested or charged with any crime in the U.S. or El Salvador.'"

"Here’s a textbook explanation for why due process is so important: the case of Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia, a native of El Salvador, who was included on the third plane full of aliens the Trump administration deported to that country on March 15."

Civil Discourse with Joyce Vance · Why We Have Due ProcessBy Joyce Vance

"That’s what happens when you hustle people—yes, people, because those who are here without legal status are still human beings, no matter what this administration would have you believe—onto a plane and dispense them into a prison in a foreign country from which they have little, if any, recourse."

@wdlindsy
It was starting to burn through her skin.

@wdlindsy Jesus has left the building, expected back (maybe) in four years!

@wdlindsy “Once you’re in El Salvador’s custody, neither a habeas petition nor the order of a federal judge is sufficient to release you. You are at the mercy of the authorities of that foreign country.”

How is that any different from kidnapping or piracy?

@wdlindsy
They said it was a mistake but are refusing to correct it.
They literally just don't fucking care about any of us.
To them, we aren't even people, just marks, to be conned and milked, for everything we have. And when they have taken everything, they kick you to the curb.
And it's done with such a level of disdain, our deaths have, to them, no more importance than the death of a cockroach.

@Darkphoenix @wdlindsy This exactly! It’s a dehumanizing, nihilistic cult that claims to be “saving civilization” and ferreting out “waste, fraud, and abuse”
