The #2A is the DUMBEST fucking thing the Framers could have possibly done. Tell people #guns are a right? Why? Even countries that allow guns under regulation don't these problems. Because gun ownership is thought out "do I need a gun?" Well, no. If you're living in a flat in Oslo where there are no ice bears, you don't a gun. Svalbard...might be a good idea. It's intentional gun ownership. It's not "I have one because I can" with this childish, selfish mentality gun owners have. #US

Replied in thread

@heidilifeldman America had the chance to stop this in its tracks early on. They didn't have the nuts to do it. #2A my arse. Ability to 'fight a rogue government', my arse. A country that saw a dictatorship coming, could have stopped it, did nothing. FUCKING PATHETIC.

#Tyrrany
The true purpose of the 2nd Amendment is to give STATES sole control over their National Guards (militias) and arm them (right of the PEOPLE to bear arms) in order to suppress invasion, insurrection etc, while prohibiting the Army from acting domestically

The right’s successful manipulation of the public’s understanding of 2A to instead be a personal right, now parroted by most on the left too, is meant to allow the current VIOLATION of #2A by federal action in LA, DC and soon Chicago

Replied to Carolleisa

@carolleisa It doesn't really matter what any one person says on the matter. What does matter is the Constitution was written to explicitly grant powers to the federal government. Everything not specified is not Constitutional.

The Bill of Rights was specifically to spell out restrictions of the US federal government. But still maintaining this is not exhaustive (ninth amendment).

The 14th amendment grants the federal government the power to enforce the enumerated rights of the #Constitution across all states. Meaning the #2A amendment is a protection for all arm and the federal government constitutionally has the responsibility to enforce that throughout the country.

If you want that changed, the Constitution also explains how that is accomplished.

Did Scalia ibelieve all people—no matter their state of mind, mental health, status or responsibilities at home work play—have the right to buy and carry, concealed or unconcealed, any type of gun anywhere at anytime and that a free State meant the individual states or State as defined as nation from antiquity? Did Tamura define his position at the Blackstone building.
Can WH servants conceal carry against tyranny?
You decide.

Justia LawDistrict of Columbia v. Heller, 554 U.S. 570 (2008)District of Columbia v. Heller: Private citizens have the right under the Second Amendment to possess an ordinary type of weapon and use it for lawful, historically established situations such as self-defense in a home, even when there is no relationship to a local militia.

How did Scalia parse Reagan’s reasoning on #2A
“With the right to bear arms comes a great responsibility to use caution and common sense on handgun purchases,” he said in a March 1991 speech. Reagan supported landmark gun control legislation in the 1990s, including the 1993 Brady Bill, which mandated federal background checks.”
He was also against weapons of mass destruction in the hands of the individual.
He didn’t appear to think it was up to states.

The Trace · Nancy Reagan’s Gun Reform LegacyBecause of her influence, gun lobbyists can't claim Ronald Reagan as a strong supporter of their views.

Another mass shooting in the USA, & I see some well intentioned folks post calls for #guncontrol laws. But a #MAGA led regime would only use those laws to clamp down on anti-fascists, while completely ignoring violations by the far-right, who will also not turn in their weapons in any kind of buyback. And ICE has just been given the budget to flood our streets with guns. Given the current political realities I'd say anyone that is #antifascist needs to arm themselves for self defense NOW. #2a
