Your example of how the preferential voting system works could mislead the reader. It is not the last person’s preference that is counted but the preferences numbered by each voters who voted for the last person to come first. Have I confused them even more. If someone has an interest in how the counting and assignment of preferences work, they are advised to go to the source at AEC.gov.au for the official description.
I appreciate that the #AEC has a very difficult job to do, which they're doing in a characteristically competent and orderly manner.
I sure wish they could update the counts in #Bean a little more quickly though.

It is plain to see the Australian Electoral Laws need some updating to mandate thruth in political advertising and make provisions for heavy fines and jail time for offenders. IMO
You just cannot allow these poeple to fuck around with weak minds in order to skew election results - that’s democracy under siege if it ever was - and it is.
