I had no idea there were more than 200 crypto ATMs in New Zealand. They're the perfect way to launder dirty cash, but not for much longer. Wearing her Associate Justice Minister's hat, Nicole McKee says the Government is banning crypto ATMs.

This brings NZ into alignment with the UK and Singapore. Aussie has a $5,000 daily limit on deposits and withdrawals.

BANKING COLLAPSE IN RUSSIA: NO CASH, #ATM RESTRICTIONS Vlog 1086: War in #Ukraine

The #BankOfRussia announced that starting September 1, banks would be allowed to temporarily limit #cash withdrawals to ₽50,000 per day (~$550 USD) for 48 hours if “suspicious activity” is detected. Officially, the move is framed as a consumer protection measure against fraud. In reality, its timing and structure reveal far deeper concerns about the ...

@TheBat

Brilliant! I wish my #bank 's #ATM was like this!

Right now, I have to cover my PIN-entering hand with my other hand, and then do a whole bunch of fake button presses, in order to hopefully confuse any hidden cameras. Hopefully. Maybe. It's absolutely maddening, and it probably isn't actually secure because real button presses require more force than fake ones.

If only the keypad was randomized like this, entering my #PIN securely would be easy. 😭

Just tried to withdraw 3500 PLN from a #Euronet #ATM in Poland.
Machine kindly offered to “help” me by converting it to 874.96 CHF on the spot.

Such a good deal!

Except… my bank did it for 772.12 CHF instead.

Let me break that down for you:

Euronet rate: 4.02 PLN = 1 CHF
My bank's rate: 4.56 PLN = 1 CHF
Their markup: +13.3%
Actual scam in numbers: I would’ve paid 102.84 CHF more just for saying “yes.”

And the cherry on top?

They try to scare you with “The rate will not be guaranteed if you decline.”

No worries, Euronet — I’ll take my chances with someone who isn’t trying to rob me in daylight.

Friendly reminder:

Always decline conversion. Let your bank handle it.

Unless you're feeling generous and want to donate to the “Euronet yacht fund.”
