Joseph MeyerI recently had lunch with my former employees. It was nice to see them. They seem to be well. I’ve aged more rapidly than them over the five years since my retirement, which have been harder than my career. Being an elderly caregiver for a wife with major depression and a transgender daughter with schizophrenia in a country led by an anti-trans fascist government is tiring. I am thankful for my pension, reasonably good health, occasional sense of humor, and an intrinsic resilience which I attribute to the luck of the genetic draw rather than any personal achievement. In fact, I strongly dislike when ableism asserts there is a virtue to resilience. Life is absurd. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!!!
