@dave They drew the books ONLY for everlasting growth. At one point they talked about pursuing a BLM permit that would jump the population cap from 75K to 100K.

The never-ending party would only expand, go global, and somehow feed ever-expanding on-playa growth.

At no point did they do the math on what might happen if two years of extreme weather, a downturn in bougie one-timers and global economic malaise might start to eat into their nonexistent margins. So hubris came home to roost.#brc

@kkarhan @TomLarrow while technically, the technology has a role to play in it, the reality is we don't have a way to fund real journalism, research, and educational production and distribution... kept going with ads as most avoided micropayments and subscriptions.

We need to solve for survival and growth of humanity inside this challenge too, so people can afford to contribute and the underlying infrastructure.

As they say even in #BRC, "ice isn't free"

My personal musical history is intertwined with #LivingColour. I saw them open for #BillyBragg at #MyFathersPlace in 1986 or so and booked them to play at #Haverford in 1987 when they were still unsigned. It began a lifelong relationship with the #BlackRock#Coalition and I’m still a #BRC member. Happy to see this #pitchfork reexamination. pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/l

Hello guys! A short intro of me:

I'm an #atmosphericscientist interested in #aerosols in complex systems, especially #bioaerosols (e.g., #microbes, spores, biomolecules, etc.) in the earth system and human society. 🦠 🌧️ 🌊 🤧
----------------
- Currently, I'm a postdoc at #MPIC (Mainz, Germany), supervised by Dr. Yafang Cheng and Dr. Hang Su. 🇩🇪

- I study the roles of #bioaerosols in the #atmosphere and the #Earth system.

- I've been developing and/or applying techniques to measure (bio)aerosols, including fluorescence spectroscopy (e.g., #WIBS 🌈 ) and mass spectrometry (#MS, e.g., FT-ICR MS, GC-MS, and AMS 📏 ).

I've also been applying data-mining tools (e.g., machine learning (#ML); #PMF, #PARAFAC, etc.) to reveal those unseen. 💻

Besides, from a wider perspective, I’m also interested in the #chemistry of brown carbon (#BrC), and their impact on the #climate (e.g., the #Arctic #warming). ♨️

And finally, here is my page: sites.google.com/view/yuesiyao (still building it 🛠️ 👷‍♂️ )
