“Flood the zone” est une formule de Steve Bannon, stratège bien connu de l’extrême droite américaine et ancien proche conseiller de Donald Trump.
Son idée – qui a fait ses preuves – était d’inonder les médias de “shit” et d’empêcher la vérification des faits afin de remplacer la vérité par des flux de délires.
Depuis son retour à la Maison Blanche, Trump a repris la même tactique, mais à une échelle supérieure.
Cela semble fonctionner, puisque, à force de boire la tasse sous les transgressions les plus radicales, les politiques et les citoyens ont beaucoup de mal à répondre.
Discrédités à cause de leur déconnection embourgeoisée, les démocrates demeurent attentistes.
Mon ami installé aux États-Unis se demandait d’ailleurs avec une pointe de désespoir pourquoi Barack Obama ne réagissait pas.
Aurait-il peur, lui aussi, d’avoir des ennuis ?
“Inonder la zone” n’est pas seulement un slogan de conseiller en communication.
Il s’agit d’art militaire, et même de philosophie de l’histoire.
Rien d’étonnant de la part de Bannon, dont la vision du monde consiste à espérer une grande conflagration purificatrice.
L’idéologue américain est en effet un lecteur assidu de René Guénon (1886-1951), qui exerce depuis longtemps une influence déterminante sur l’extrême droite.
Selon cet intellectuel orientaliste et antimoderne, l’histoire est cyclique.
L’erreur de la modernité occidentale est de la croire linéaire et en progrès constant.
Il faut au contraire considérer “le désordre comme un élément de l’ordre” (Le Règne de la quantité et les signes des temps, 1945) et la violence des temps modernes comme la phase finale d’un cycle qui conduit à la régénération.
Bannon appelle la guerre de ses vœux – contre l’islam, contre les immigrés, contre la Chine. Elle permettra une remise à zéro indispensable pour espérer un rebond de l’Occident, actuellement tombé en décadence.
Comme l’écrit Guénon, “la fin d’un monde n’est jamais et ne peut jamais être autre que la fin d’une illusion”.
C’est ici que la métaphore de l’inondation prend tout son sens.
Elle est un événement naturel, et de plus en plus fréquent en période de désordre climatique.
Elle exprime aux yeux de Bannon la nécessité inexorable de la nature. La submersion est cruelle, car elle engloutit tout et noie tout le monde. Elle seule est à même, pourtant, de vaincre la supposée submersion migratoire.
Enfin, dans une perspective darwiniste, seuls ceux qui en auront la force pourront surnager.
Il n’en reste pas moins qu’il faut la provoquer.
Après la première nappe, déjà ancienne, des fausses nouvelles, la seconde vise désormais à asphyxier toute velléité d’opposition.
Instruit par Bannon, Donald Trump, qui affirme vouloir la paix tout en envoyant des missiles au Yémen, est aujourd’hui à la manœuvre.
La tactique s’avère efficace, car actuellement, me raconte encore mon ami d’Amérique, chacun doit lutter pour sa propre survie, au sens propre du terme.
Un immigré expulsé doit tenter de se réinventer ailleurs.
Un fonctionnaire licencié du jour au lendemain doit retrouver au plus vite un travail afin de bénéficier d’une assurance maladie pour lui et sa famille.
Une personne en transition de genre doit essayer de poursuivre son traitement.
Avant d’y parvenir, mieux vaut se montrer prudent et s’autocensurer.
Sans avoir le temps de penser au sort des autres, sans aucun espoir de secours, chacun tente d’échapper à la noyade. Retenir sa respiration empêche d’ouvrir la bouche. Pendant ce temps-là, les digues continuent de sauter
