Queer was not given that honor but should have been so nominated too. </p><p>Queer is a "queer" movie &amp; Anora is <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/AnOfficerAndAGentleman" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AnOfficerAndAGentleman</span></a>" meets a <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/Russian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Russian</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/clusterfuck" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>clusterfuck</span></a> but I liked them &amp; would give them both a 7 out of 10. 😎</p><p><a href="https://sfba.social/tags/DanielCraig" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>DanielCraig</span></a> gives a great performance as an aging queer man living in Mexico who's main occupation in life (apart from being a sometime writer) is chasing anything younger in pants. He was nominated for a <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/BestActor" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BestActor</span></a> Golden Globe award but not for an Oscar this year.☹️</p><p><a href="https://sfba.social/tags/MickeyMadison" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MickeyMadison</span></a>, the heretofore unknown actress playing Anora in Anora gives a great Golden Globe &amp; Oscar nominated performance in the film.</p><p>Both movies are well worth watching IMO. If you haven't seen them yet, find &amp; watch them when/where you can.</p>

sgt1372<p><a href="https://sfba.social/tags/Oscars" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Oscars</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/Movies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Movies</span></a> </p><p>Well, this year's Oscar ceremonies are over and there were was only 1 surprise for me when . . . </p><p>Emma Stone won for <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/BestActress" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BestActress</span></a> in "Poor Things" over Lily Gladstone in "Killers of the Flower Moon" who I thought would win because she would have been the 1st Native American to win an Oscar and because dramatic performances usually win over comedic/farcical ones but it was not to be.</p><p>Otherwise, the awards played to script with "Oppenheimer" sweeping the awards for <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/BestPicture" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BestPicture</span></a>, <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/BestDirector" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BestDirector</span></a>, <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/BestActor" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BestActor</span></a> (Cillian Murphy) &amp; <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/BestSupportingActor" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BestSupportingActor</span></a> (Robert Downey Jr.) plus 3 other technical categories. </p><p>The remaining winner in the major categories was Da'Vine Joy Randolph who won (as I expected) for <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/BestSupportingActress" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BestSupportingActress</span></a> for her role in "The Holdovers,"</p><p>Now, as a new film season begins, I can go about watching the rest of the nominated movies &amp; performances of 2023 that I haven't seen yet in: "American Fiction," "Zone of Interest," "Rustin" &amp; "The Color Purple."</p>

Cooper does a great job of embodying Lenny but I was more impressed with Carey Mulligan's portrayal of his wife, Felicia Montealgre.</p><p>I've so far seen 6 of the 10 movies nominated for the <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/Oscar" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Oscar</span></a> for <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/BestPicture" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BestPicture</span></a> this year and, of those that I've seen, I think Mulligan deserves the nod for <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/BestActress" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BestActress</span></a> although my guess is that Lily Gladstone in "Killers of the Flower Moon" will take that award over Emma Stone in "Poor Things", who both won a <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/Grammy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Grammy</span></a> for Best Actress in different categories -- drama/comedy.</p><p>As for <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/BestActor" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BestActor</span></a>, Cooper's performance certainly deserves a nod as does Paul Giamatti in "The Holdovers" but Cillian Murphy will probably take it for his role in <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/Oppenheimer" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Oppenheimer</span></a>, which will also probably take the awards for <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/BestPicture" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BestPicture</span></a> &amp; <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/BestDirector" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BestDirector</span></a> as he/it did @ the Grammys.</p><p>We'll see . . .</p>

Azalea<p>I would have liked to see <a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/Andor" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Andor</span></a> get a best drama series nomination, but these award shows rarely nominate Sci-Fi series. Like The Expanse was totally locked out by the Emmys. But <a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/DiegoLuna" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>DiegoLuna</span></a> getting a <a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/BestActor" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BestActor</span></a> nomination by the <a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/GoldenGlobes" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>GoldenGlobes</span></a> is something and well deserved. All the actors in Andor are amazing.
