Is bigger always better?
A study by Cordier et al., compares data from GBIF and IUCN to evaluate how well "#BigData" represents threatened vertebrate species in over 120,000 protected areas worldwide.
Findings showed discrepancies with IUCN data overestimated species richness by 575%, while GBIF underestimating by 63%.
Regional biases were also found when looking at both datasets.
