A friend is down south to watch Starship launch #8, and he reports the following aeronautical news:

"Wow! The giant tethered blimp just broke free!
The tether dragged across 3 blocks of power lines, hitting the bay right next to us -- knocking out power everywhere!
The blimp is heading toward Corpus at about 30 knots. B-)
It's a miracle no one was hurt."

The Guardian · ‘The flying bum’: can a UK firm making huge airships finally get off the ground?By Jasper Jolly

Electrically heated hot air blimp. Is this anything? Is this a good idea?

I'm imagining it's given its initial heating on the ground, connected to grid power, which is hopefully renewable. The battery it carries is just to keep it warm.

Can it still increase its density with balonets when it needs to? Like a helium blimp? So it doesn't have to expel hot air?
