#BerkeleyPD release partial #bodycam video of #policeshooting that occured after man fired a weapon from his home at officers intent on performing a wellness check. Portions of incident are missing from cop footage, as officers claim to have "accidentally" deactivated cameras at critical points.

Local #PD apparently arrive at apartment after reports of a violent altercation with a female inside were received, and hostile suspect then started armed standoff, lying that he was alone, and began making threats to shoot officers.

Hospitalized and later booked at county jail as 33-year-old Ricardo Ruiz, the dreadlocked suspect had recently been arrested for trolling anti #Trump protestors with a stun gun outside a #Tesla dealership on 4th st. The #MAGA supporter posted a video of that incident to YouTube afterwards, and apparently goes by pseudonyms "Rick Fuze” and “DJ Occult”.

He has not yet responded legally to multiple charges, but has a bail hearing scheduled Friday May 9th (tomorrow).

My guess would be that they're getting ready to enforce federal law about marijuana, and they don't want any evidence of how they treat the "potheads."

Personal note-
I'm realizing my own ablist privilege as I try to get alt- text etc for these Instagram posts- maybe impossible on my phone?

InstagramADC National on Instagram: "BREAKING: Body cam audio confirms what we’ve known all along — UT Austin students were arrested without cause for protesting genocide in Gaza. Newly released footage captures officers admitting they couldn’t identify a single illegal act before violently arresting peaceful student protesters on April 24. This wasn’t law enforcement — it was political repression. We’re holding Governor Abbott, UT Austin, and state officials accountable. Free speech is not a crime. #freespeech"6,909 likes, 83 comments - adcnational on May 6, 2025: "BREAKING: Body cam audio confirms what we’ve known all along — UT Austin students were arrested without cause for protesting genocide in Gaza. The DEA Once Touted Body Cameras for Their “Enhanced Transparency.” Now the Agency Is Abandoning Them.

An internal email obtained by ProPublica said the agency made the change to be “consistent” with a Trump executive order. But at least two other federal law enforcement agencies are still requiring body cameras.
