Michael Miller :blobrdm: 🦆<p>Speaking of getting away from billionaires, let’s talk about <a href="https://frontrange.co/tags/books" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>books</span></a> ! (<a href="https://frontrange.co/tags/audiobooks" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>audiobooks</span></a>, specifically)</p><p>I have been on <a href="https://frontrange.co/tags/audible" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>audible</span></a> almost since the beginning, long before amazon snatched them up. I have wanted to de-amazon my life but this was a tough step.</p><p>I want to give high praise to two applications.</p><p><a href="https://frontrange.co/tags/libation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>libation</span></a> is an open-source app which allows you to get the library *you paid for* free of DRM so you can use it how you need. It’s ugly as sin (which the developer admits!) as it’s developed by a single person. But it *works* and gets the job done. I happily donated and I think others should, too.</p><p>But once you have the files, you need to play them. Let’s be honest, the audible iOS app is pretty good for this, but you need to be in their ecosystem.</p><p>Enter <a href="https://frontrange.co/tags/BookPlayer" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BookPlayer</span></a> , another open-source app which lets you play arbitrary audiobooks on iOS. It’s constantly updated, the library is pretty, and the functionality is good. There’s no watch playback (yet), but it’s on the developer’s roadmap.</p><p>Give these a try if you’re in the same boat as me!</p><p><a href="https://github.com/rmcrackan/Libation" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">github.com/rmcrackan/Libation</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p><a href="https://github.com/TortugaPower/BookPlayer" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">github.com/TortugaPower/BookPl</span><span class="invisible">ayer</span></a></p>
