A quotation from Orwell

All through the Christian ages, and especially since the French Revolution, the Western world has been haunted by the idea of freedom and equality; it is only an idea, but it has penetrated to all ranks of society. The most atrocious injustices, cruelties, lies, snobberies exist everywhere, but there are not many people left who can regard these things with the same indifference as, say, a Roman slave-owner. Even the millionaire suffers from a vague sense of guilt, like a dog eating a stolen leg of mutton. Nearly everyone, whatever his actual conduct may be, responds emotionally to the idea of human brotherhood.

George Orwell (1903-1950) English writer [pseud. of Eric Arthur Blair]

Los Angeles Times · 68 indicted in 'Peckerwoods' gang case linked to Aryan BrotherhoodBy Matthew Ormseth

Johannes van der Kemp, Dutch Reformed minister, writes on Matthew 25. The passage says giving is evidence of a good state. Kemp also points out the godly knew their charitable efforts “not good on account of their impurity”.

How many people can do that? Do we whine and protest at the least critique? (Not even getting started with those viewing charitable interest AS impurity!)

How can you take a second look at your good deeds?

A truly amazing read!

"If I deny his attempts at closeness by leaving or setting a boundary, he could feel frustrated, rejected, or ashamed. If he doesn’t know how to recognize or manage those feelings, he’s likely to experience them as anger. And then I’m a solo woman stuck in a forest with an angry man, which is exactly what women are most afraid of.

There’s no time to think, so I operate on instinct. My task is ridiculously complex. I need to deescalate any signs of aggression, guide the man into a state of emotional balance, and exit the situation safely, all at once. This process requires all of my attention, energy, and intellect. It’s really hard."

In Kharkiv, members of the "Brotherhood" damaged a car with a sticker crossed out TСК. They broke the windshield wipers, scratched the rear window with a knife, and punctured two tires. Many condemned the actions, but a spokesperson for the Southern Forces, Dmytro Pletenchuk, supported them, asking, "Wasn't it easier to break the glass?" #Kharkiv #Brotherhood
