TECC :archlinux:<p><a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Windows10" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Windows10</span></a> is coming to an end. I won’t use <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Windows11" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Windows11</span></a> or other <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Microsoft" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Microsoft</span></a> products anymore. I really like <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Linux</span></a> (especially <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/ArchLinux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ArchLinux</span></a>). I don’t want to be told how or when to use my own <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/computer" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>computer</span></a>. I won’t accept <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/datacollection" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>datacollection</span></a>, forced accounts, or <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/cloud" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>cloud</span></a>-only services. In the future, I’ll play all my <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/games" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>games</span></a> on Linux too.</p><p>F*CK MICROSOFT! 🙃</p><p><a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/FOSS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FOSS</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/ByeWindows" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ByeWindows</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/DigitalFreedom" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DigitalFreedom</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/OpenSource" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>OpenSource</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/GamingOnLinux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>GamingOnLinux</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Privacy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Privacy</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/NoCloud" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>NoCloud</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/NoForcedAccounts" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>NoForcedAccounts</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/games" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>games</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/videogames" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>videogames</span></a></p>
Marisabel Munoz<p>I'm considering moving from windows to Linux on my main laptop. I use Alma Linux in my server but I'm looking for the most ideal GUI for daily use. Alma worked perfect for what i wanted in a server. I just have no idea what to pick for laptop use. Any advice appreciated. I don't like bloated distros. <a href="https://indieweb.social/tags/linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>linux</span></a> <a href="https://indieweb.social/tags/byewindows" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>byewindows</span></a></p>
Sean<p>Switching from Windows to Linux Mint has been a little tricky. OBS was a bit of a pain to set up - the Window Capture in the flatpak version didn't work for whatever reason, but the apt get version did. MixItUp is only for Windows, so no luck there. Also a few Bluetooth connection issues.</p><p>But these are really all small annoyances, it's been really smooth otherwise. Also startup is so much faster, you just turn it on and there aren't a bunch of random start up apps. No random ads or pop ups. My start menu limits it's search to apps on my computer.</p><p>This feels weirdly like a huge milestone for me! I remember installing Karmic Koala on an ancient Dell desktop, thinking it was so cool, but that my main computer would always have Windows because of gaming. So whenever I upgraded, the old computer would get Linux while the new one would have Windows. Now I don't have any machines on Window and I may never have one again!</p><p><a href="https://forcedconversation.com/tags/Linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Linux</span></a> <a href="https://forcedconversation.com/tags/ByeWindows" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ByeWindows</span></a> <a href="https://forcedconversation.com/tags/RecallThis" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RecallThis</span></a></p>
