Anyone know a trick to get a microscope and a very good camera mounted to a CNC without it shaking more than a few µm (at the very most) while moving and without needing to buy $$$$ linear stages?

I wish I could explain to you all how proud (and simultaneously insecure) I am of what I have been working on, and how utterly insane and complex my project has been becoming. 🫠 Suffice to say I have built an automatic device coordination and communication system (including spinning up new data streams :uplink: )...all of that was just to build this simple game for my experiment, but to make it flexible to run with teams of 2, 3, 5, N, players and be able to handle data collection, EEG, and other stuff. :corteximplant_b: :mk2:

It, hopefully, will be a super useful tool for anyone wanting to do research into groups, social dynamics and related investigation...or you could just use it to build a game haha. :commodore:

Reddit is now advertising #CNC machine to me that cost ~$40k USED and what require an excavator, concrete, and a lot of money to make a way to get it into our basement, or alternately the construction of a new building on our property.

I’m not actually opposed to either of these options. We just can’t afford them… or the machine.

In related news: i still haven’t even used my baby’s-first-CNC once yet.

I have been doing some pointing work on the brickwork for the house and not having a good time. So, today I decided to take a break and work on something I like to do.
This is a Bernardo BF28L that is being converted into a CNC mill. It will run LinuxCNC. Parts were made back in 2019/2020 fitted up and packed away for our move to Hagen. This project has been waiting for quite a while.

I also have a Shapeoko to build, kind of a different animal.
