I am waiting in line to hear prime minister Mark Carney speak. The line is thousands of people and winds around and around a block and a hotel complex. I am here for equality, inclusion, justice, solidarity, democracy, sovereignty, and academic freedom. Not sure what the “eff-word Trudeau” upside-down Canadian flag protestors outside are here for. 1938 called. It wants its ideology back. #canpoli

@jace

O.K.... but they gotta PAY for that. And if the world doesn't do any business with them, because the prices are too high, then they won't be able to afford it. Canada isn't going to do any more business with them. The EU just said the same thing. China's not going to make any contribution.

And there's currently no support for taking over Canada. Heck, even Mitch voted against tariffs for Canada. Krazy King Krasnov is just living in his own head.

Below is a link to a petition to have Canada's position on #Gaza #Palestine put to #Canpoli party leaders during the upcoming debates. Yes, the petition is very much sympathetic towards the plight of the Palestinians and the #genocide they are enduring if that gives anyone pause before looking further. #elxn45 #MarkCarney #JagmeetSingh #NeverPoilievre

@kgw
The doom scrolling sees each weekend's protests exponentially scaling up.

The courts are turning the tide & the paralyzed fear is leaving. Boldness is setting in this past week.

Another round of Gordon Lightfoot's Black Day in July may occur, but it won't be based on race or limited to Motor City.

When the rest of the world pulls a "Carney" & just basically ignores Krazy King Krasnov, the false grandeur of greatness will result in the States imploding.

We have Ellen Papenburg running for the Animal Protection Party in #Kitchener too! It was touch'n'go for a while - she was on the APP website when the election was called, but then disappeared. Now she's listed on the Elections Canada website, but still not on the APP site.

#WaterlooRegion peeps can follow all the excitement at poliblog.jonkman.ca/Poliblog-E

There are still some unconfirmed candidates who say they're running...

I had to look a little more into the Quebec specific polls to see if there were any trends there, so I recreated the same graph with Quebec polls.

It is hard to make out from the very noisy Bloc and CPC numbers but the Bloc did go below 20%. These are Liaison provincial polls which appear to be consistently the lowest for the Bloc.

There doesn't really seem to be any discernible trend for the Bloc or CPC. Both are fluctuating wildly between pollsters. But the Liberal and the NDP numbers are showing a decline and slight upward trend respectively.

I'll post these Quebec numbers with the national numbers tomorrow and going forward just to keep an eye on it.

I can't believe we're this far into the US trade war and I still see media stories suggesting that tariffed countries are "paying", and in the literal sense.

If the media is this confused about something so simple, I don't know what hope there is for ever having any kind of substantive public discourse.

Is someting happening in Quebec?!

The Bloc have broken below the 5% (national poll) barrier twice in the latest two days of polling, which is for April 4th and 5th.

Mainstreet polls, 4% on the 4th, then 3% on the 5th.
There are also Liaison “B" grade (not included on graph) polling that pegged them at 4% in their four most recent pollings since April 2nd.

LPC/CPC still within usual bounds. NDP steady.

Well, Mastodon, now that I'm working for Elections Canada, all my partisan political activity for this election must stop.

Y'all don't know my name or, likely, my riding, but I'm going to take this directive seriously and stop posting about party politics from now until 29 April.

😭

Enjoy the contest!

@Becksy I think that is very much the plan for Canada. Our current Prime Minister (election later this month) has indicated that our government is already in talks with many global partners including Mexico, Australia, the EU, and China to bypass typical trade that is routed through the US. I know that #Canada has already signed a new agreement with #Mexico as well regarding our current trade under the existing #USMCA agreement.
