Well. That was some news conference!

Carney’s quick response to whether or not he will work with the NDP (“No. Why would I?”) is arrogant. Many of us would’ve voted NDP if not for our shitty first past the post fake democracy.

He seems to think he got the job because we all wanted to go even further right of centre and not because we were fighting off a white supremacist Christian nationalist takeover.

Dude needs a slap.

Canada needs to deepen, strengthen, expand world ties, importantly with Europe.

One strong way to be "more European" is to strengthen democracy and voting with Proportional Representation.

European nations are over 90% Proportional Representation. Canadians love it. Parliament supports it, Parliamentary Committee cleared it.

Prime Minister Carney, protecting Canada runs through Proportional Representation. Protecting the Canadian Economy runs through the EU.

"It also means having the courage to act. To build alliances that don’t depend on Washington. To invest in European cooperation. To speak up for refugees, minorities, LGBTQ+ rights – not just when it’s easy, but when it’s right. There is a path forward, but it doesn’t start with appeasement, it starts with a spine."

"If Carney can stand up and win, so can others, but this can only happen if they’re willing to stop cowering and start talking like adults again.

That means calling Trump what he is. A dangerous demagogue. A narcissist. A man who should never again be allowed near a nuclear code, let alone a G7 summit. It means standing up for allies, not hiding from them. It means backing global democracy, not hiding behind the sofa when the orange man tweets."

At the Byline, The Bear applauds newly elected Canadian PM Mark Carney for refusing to permit Trump to bully him. The Bear sees Carney as a model for how other political leaders might deal with Trump:

"Silence is complicity, and in this case, it’s a strategic error too. Because there is appetite for a fight. There is appetite for truth. There is appetite – clearly – for grown-up politics."

Vittoria a sorpresa. Carney era molti punti indietro rispetto al rivale  conservatore ma ha avuto una risalita elettorale impetuosa e sorprendente . Un capovolgimento che ha […]

"No one is rising to the level of ambition we need to address our #ClimateEmergency. PM #Carney ultimately believes the market is a viable way to solve problems, trying to persuade companies to do the right thing, incentiving them to change their behaviour. That's not the level of ambition we need."

Poilievre needs to resign before he interferes with tariff negotiations between Carney and Trump. "At a moment when the federal government is going to war with a powerful and determined enemy, Poilievre's parliamentary tactics — denounce, delay and paralyze — would be welcome fodder for U.S. President Donald Trump. He is a man experienced at sowing and reaping the rewards from a divided enemy."

As an addendum, anyone care to speculate why Trump has formed such a specific virulent hatred toward the guy?

I mean, I know why I hate him, but I'm left guessing at Trump's motivation.

Unless he aims to use Carney in some way - he is a highly visible and tremendously valuable asset whose family could be threatened...

Whose advice is he taking?
