#Prompt: #Moribund

From my 17yo poet-son - poetry.com/poet/Dylan+Miller+- - (give him a like or two on his poetry page!):

Moricumber

Can't get moribund's
Meaning in my head.
So it's cumberbunds
I'll speak about instead...

Tie around your waist
A *moribund* with haste
I spent my fashion fund
On a lovely new *moribund*.

Kindling the love of reading

Amazon's
#Kindle platform is, if memory serves, the world's largest #ebook platform. Its Kindle #reader app is pretty much the most widely used ebook reader.

The Kindle platform has a feature called the
#Reading #Challenge. You can't make it shut the fuck up. You can't make it go the fuck away. You can't even hide it in the app any more. You used to be able to tell it not to waste your screen space displaying, but they took that ability away not long ago. Probably their developers were butt-hurt because too many people turned it off, and removed the ability to hide it for that reason. (At least you can still tell the system not to display Kindle Reader's push notifications.)

There's two reasons why the Kindle Reading Challenge is a bad idea that should just die.

The first is because
nearly everybody hates it. If you do a web search for Kindle Reading Challenge, what you're most likely to get is pages of results of people asking how to turn the damned thing off.

The second is because if,
INSIDE YOUR EBOOK READER APP, you've got to gamify reading to get people to read books ... you've already lost.

BTFree stands for Big Tech Free. Talking to @Ozoned we came up with a few ideas that might be interesting to pursue. For example the B could be drawn as a Bee. A nasty, kind of, insect character. Then if you add to it an English Top Hat and a cup of T. Well you get yourself an Oligarch. A nasty Oligarch. Representing the Big Tech ( BT ). But ...

Here is a great #resource for challenging #Math exercises for different skill levels (mainly for secondary school students):

Although I'm not a secondary school student any more, I still spend some time with such exercises, because they're still more interesting than crossword puzzles, and if I want to work on harder Math problems, I should probably be able to solve the easier ones as well. #challenge #puzzle #problem #Mathematics #exercise

The Palmer Raids: Red Scare History

The Palmer Raids: A dark chapter of American history that serves as a warning. In 1919-1920, Attorney General A. Mitchell Palmer launched sweeping arrests of leftists, immigrants, and activists, using fear of communism to justify mass detentions, deportations, and the suppression of dissent…
