Kindling the love of reading
Amazon's #Kindle platform is, if memory serves, the world's largest #ebook platform. Its Kindle #reader app is pretty much the most widely used ebook reader.
The Kindle platform has a feature called the #Reading #Challenge. You can't make it shut the fuck up. You can't make it go the fuck away. You can't even hide it in the app any more. You used to be able to tell it not to waste your screen space displaying, but they took that ability away not long ago. Probably their developers were butt-hurt because too many people turned it off, and removed the ability to hide it for that reason. (At least you can still tell the system not to display Kindle Reader's push notifications.)
There's two reasons why the Kindle Reading Challenge is a bad idea that should just die.
The first is because nearly everybody hates it. If you do a web search for Kindle Reading Challenge, what you're most likely to get is pages of results of people asking how to turn the damned thing off.
The second is because if, INSIDE YOUR EBOOK READER APP, you've got to gamify reading to get people to read books ... you've already lost.
