The only way to reduce temperatures is to reduce carbon.

The burning of #FossilFuels#oil, #coal, and #NaturalGas – is the primary source of man-made atmospheric #CarbonDioxide. Since the start of the industrial revolution, humans have contributed more than 2,000 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere.

After it is released into the atmosphere, the carbon dioxide is naturally redistributed between the #atmosphere, the #oceans, and the #biosphere. However, none of the emitted #carbon will return to the #Earth by natural processes for many tens of thousands of years.
As a result, the carbon that humans release by burning fossil fuels will lead to increased levels of carbon in the atmosphere, #ocean, and #biosphere for many thousands of years.

If carbon dioxide is allowed to continue to accumulate in the atmosphere, it will be impossible for the world to stay below 2.0°C, let alone 1.5°C.

UK spring warmest ever:

“This spring's mean temperature of 9.5°C surpassed the long-term climatological average by 1.4°C, making it the warmest spring since the series began in 1884.

…eight of the ten warmest UK springs have occurred since the year 2000, and the three warmest springs have all occurred since 2017.”

I used to think actuaries would cause the insurance business to speak loudly about Climate, and that in turn would cause Government to see that the problem was not imagined because real dollars were at stake.

But gerrymandering insurability is not a form of awareness, it's a form of denial. It's Martin Niemöller's "First They Came..." poem, played out along the Climate axis.
