Trump: 2nd Update as o July 22</p><p>Most of you know by now that at the District Court level, Judge Illston requested the administration to submit SEALED ARRPs and a list of agencies planning to RIF that's due to her tomorrow at 12:00 noon PDT (3pm here in DC).Another new development as of yesterday: The administration has filed a motion to dismiss the case on August 29 at the District Court level (Judge Illston). Stay tuned.What you may not have followed is, what's going on at the 9th Circuit Court level. After digging into the Court listener website, I found that:The administration was supposed to have submitted a brief to the 9th Circuit last Friday, 7/18.However, last Wednesday, 7/16, the administration filed for a delay, which the 9th circuit granted.The new due date for the brief to be submitted to the 9th Circuit is August 1st.This means it is possible Judge Illston MAY rule on the ARRPs prior to the August 1st brief to the 9th Circuit. This would certainly help drive this case forward eventually back up to SCOTUS assuming Judge Illston and the 9th circuit both rule against the administration, as both courts did previously. But it's not guaranteed. We'll just have to wait and see. BTW, if any of you want to follow along yourself on Court Listener, you'll actually need TWO case numbers, not one. It was brought to my attention by u/rprz that after some soul searching, my improvements and ideas—the transparency, the focus on professional discourse, the drive to make this a functional and fair community—do not bode with the agenda rprz is setting forth. Yes, it comes as a surprise to me as much as it likely does to all of you.I look at what we’ve accomplished together. The engagement numbers, the positive feedback, the creation of a space that was becoming less toxic and more substantive. I truly thought we were on the right path. I just want to thank everyone for being awesome and helping your community get through some very tough times. Your feedback, your support, and your willingness to engage in good faith have been the driving force behind every positive step we’ve taken. I am immensely disappointed that this progress is being cut short.I'm not sure what new direction r/FedNews will be entering, but I can only offer my best wishes. The rules we fought to clarify, the enforcement philosophy we worked to stabilize—I assume this will all change. I would also suspect that the way the moderation team moderates will be vastly different from the last 7 months. For the potential hurdles this will cause, and for this sudden reversal, I am truly sorry.For the sake of the transparency I’ve always championed, I feel you deserve to know what seems to have been the tipping point. I believe this all culminated when a different moderator became upset due to me reversing their decision to delete a user's post—a post that didn’t violate any written rules. My commitment was to fair, predictable moderation based on our agreed-upon standards. It seems that this commitment is now considered a bug, not a feature.It's been an honor. I'll be sticking around through 7/27/2025 if anyone needs anything before I head out.-CannabunPS: I guess I'll spill the beans about why I use AI to help me write. It's not to "one-up" other posts or to be deceptive, as was suggested. The truth is I have a stupid medical disability that makes it extremely difficult to communicate clearly. I have a really bad tendency to write in a non-linear format, which would drive anyone AWOL trying to decipher my raw thoughts. The AI was simply an accessibility tool to help me organize my points so I could better serve this community. My boss left to another agency and it doesn't look like his position will be filled anytime soon. There are 5 of us in our group and two have offered to fill his role as basically an unpaid detail. I was also asked to fill this role and I said no. Now I am getting some shame at the office for not "stepping up." I have had mixed reactions when I tell people that I am not willing to do a GS 13's job for zero compensation, which also taking care of my own job.
