My love Sabi is sole caretaker for #elderly mom with #dementia and our son Little Man, while she herself is disabled. What does this mean? It means exhaustion. Even when the hotel is covered, she remains sole caretaker. Even without sleep or food, while sick, in pain, struggling w/ #trauma. #Disabled #Latina family in danger. Please step up.

@charlesgaba I know you are handling #Medicaid and the #ACA (#AffordableCareAct aka #ObamaCare ), but not many people are talking about the billions of decreases in #Medicare spending in Trump's "Big Beautiful [GOP House passed Budget] bill," which often go hand and hand, esp with #disabled people on Medicaid and #MedicaidExpansion Medicare linked state programs...

They got this linked notice from the CBO on May 20 and decided to pass it May 22.

"Today the Congressional Budget Office transmitted an estimate of the
budgetary effects of the 2025 reconciliation bill...."

"The 4 percent maximum reduction in Medicare spending would apply to
sequestration orders for years after 2026. If OMB ordered a sequestration of $230 billion for each year through 2034, the ordered "reductions in Medicare spending would increase" to about $75 billion in 2034 and would total roughly $490 billion over the 2027–2034 period."

I wrote an article with @pesh about how Amtrak can improve booking, boarding, and riding for Disabled travelers.

To highlight a few suggestions:
1. Don't remove the "Passenger with Disability or Assistance Needed?" box from the website the moment someone tries to add a leg to their trip search.
2. Put down the cymbal—I mean, lift flap—gently. (youtube.com/watch?v=SD0J1sHU5q)
3. Never put trash can in the space that has one sign saying "♿ RESERVED FOR PASSENGERS WITH DISABILITIES" and three signs saying "DO NOT STORE ITEMS IN THIS AREA".
