Destination's Journey<p>Northrop BT-1 of Bombing 6 aboard USS Enterprise. The Northrop BT-1 was a dive bomber operated by the US Navy. A total of 55 were built. Poor handling characteristics restricted its use to only two aircraft carriers, USS Yorktown (CV-5) and USS Enterprise (CV-6). A revised version became the BT-2. Destination's Journey<p>Vultee XA-41<br>Originally designed as a dive-bomber, the role of the Vultee XA-41 was changed to a low level attack aircraft when the USAAF decided that dive bombers were too vulnerable. Clare Mulley<p><a href="https://c.im/tags/MelittaVonStauffenberg" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MelittaVonStauffenberg</span></a> was born <a href="https://c.im/tags/OTD" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>OTD</span></a> in 1903. One of the first women to fly a <a href="https://c.im/tags/glider" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>glider</span></a>, she became a brilliant aeronautical engineer & test pilot. The bust shows her hair merged with her flying cap - part woman part machine.
Melitta developed the dive sights & dive brakes for the <a href="https://c.im/tags/Stuka" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Stuka</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/divebomber" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>divebomber</span></a>, but in July #1944 she played a key role in the <a href="https://c.im/tags/valkyrie" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>valkyrie</span></a> bomb plot.
