I am truly sorry to all federal employees

I’m a state employee whose position is funded by ORR (not sure what the future holds), and while I’m nervous as hell, I can’t imagine how you folks who are on the frontline are dealing with this madness! I have no other words, just that I’m so sorry. 😞

Shrink the programs before shrinking the workforce. Doge and DoD targeting all the wrong things as expected.

Sharing as a GS14 in the DoD — Cutting people instead of cutting programs is so stupid. An example. National security technology program that costs $60 million dollars per year to operate. It’s got a program office of 6 govt employees and 30 support contractors. 5/6 government employees will be taking the VERA/VSIP or taking the 2nd fork in the road DRP. Those 5 people leaving saves the govt maybe $500k each year. Meanwhile we still pay $60mil a year for a national security contract to be managed by a single govt employee. And let’s just say that that technology program is operating the core infrastructure of the undersea pipes providing internet connectivity to Taiwan (which it is). So due to lack of programmatic oversight, the fiber pipes get compromised by Chinese adversaries, China then cuts off internet to Taiwan, and the US has to intervene to protect Taiwan from China. We’re now at war because we tried to save $500k/yr by laying off five (5) people. Cut the ineffective programs and the low performers in the government cause we all know that needs to be done. But do it with a scalpel. Not a chainsaw.

Continued thread

From OPB:

opb.org/article/2025/04/02/ore

The article cites $129m in funds held by #DHS and Secretary Noem, but it is really a lot higher because obligations are held up as well, not just the request for funds. The total is closer to $200m at this point...

OPB · Oregon and other states say Trump’s continued freeze on much-needed FEMA aid violates a judge’s orderBy Chris Arnold

"If Musk leaves, are his people leaving with him?"
Great question by Lisa Graves on @nicolesandler show.

We have hard evidence that the DOGE staff have done damage. Not just simple "mistakes" but damage that will destroy lives.

Who must be convinced of that damage? The public? Republicans in Congress?
Judges?
If they are told to stop, but don't, then what?

Who will undo & repair the damage they have done?

#ElonMusk and the policies of #DOGE must be stopped.

#DOGE staffer’s #YouTube nickname accidentally revealed his teen #hacking activity

A #SpaceX and X engineer, Christopher Stanley—currently serving as a senior advisor in the Deputy Attorney General's office at the Dept of Justice ( #DOJ )—was reportedly caught bragging about hacking & distributing pirated e-books, #bootleg software, & game cheats.

The boasts appeared on archived versions of websites, of which several, once flagged, were quickly deleted

@SeanCasten

Wow, this is #fraud. Where is #Doge to identify this fraud?

And #MAGA STILL believe, as does their ignorant leader, that the foreign party pays the tariff. They don't. The US importer pays it. (Google: Tariff Sheet) Then costs are passed on to US consumers. So there is no foreign revenue. It's a regressive domestic tax

It's just unreal how totally dumb they all are, which is why #Putin and #Xi love them.

Rec’d a text from a coworker who DRP’d

I rec’d a text from a coworker who could have retired (is 63) but took DRP and then will retire after that. She asked how I was and then said she felt bad about ‘retiring’ but “this had all been a long time coming and something we all brought on ourselves with how all these federal agencies just piss money and time away blah blah waste and efficiency “. Other than being totally tone deaf to the fact that she is collecting an entire year of FULL pay and benefits and earned leave etc… and THEN will retire when she could have just retired while we are all scrambling to do triple work —the bigger insult is that she could turn on the remaining federal force. IT honestly had me for a minute HOPING the DRP people get screwed. AND YES i realize that is not helpful and i realize that is not really what i want but just to VENT i was briefly infuriated that someone who has left could honestly have that attitude toward the remaining federal staff. Just needed a vent we are all in this together some couldn’t leave, some needed and had no choice, some would have been fired. BUT if you are here and you did take DRP please out of respect to those who had to stay or did mind your manners when you check in on us.

in light of the recent tariff announcements and the economic impact it's going to have on,,,, literally all of us, how about we kick off a little #30DaysOfReadiness series where we share ('share' not as in 'posting' but rather 'freely exchanging a resource we have—like knowledge—that someone else might not') a tip a day about ways to prepare for the changes we're inevitably going to encounter in the coming weeks, months, and years?

What's Russ' problem anyway?

If I understand it Russell Vought and his think tank that started all this fed employee hate. Is there something in his past maybe? A job he didn't get? A fed employee stole his best gal? Seems like there's more to the story doesn't it?
