I don't know what to do next...

I could try another ebay #ECU, pour another $100 down the drain, and pray that it's not fried too.

I could try to replace the original ECU and wiring with a modern #MegaSquirt ECU.

I could tear all the fucking #fuelinjection shit out, find some #carburetors, linkage, manifolds, and low pressure fuel pump.

I could buy a $20k electric conversion kit.

I could set it on fire and roll it into the Columbia river.

Hoping I had found and repaired every relevant damage, I closed the #ECU provisionally and plugged it back into my car.

I turned the key and waited in anticipation.
I already heard the fuel pump coming to life. Turning it further and the motor sprung to life! Success! \o/

Now the only things remaining are closing and sealing the ECU properly, thoroughly cleaning the ECU compartment and assembling everything back together.

A few days ago, my car suddenly decided that it didn't have an #ECU anymore. No fuel pump noise, no cranking, no CAN connection whatsoever.

Researching a bit, it's apparently quite common for GM/Opel Corsa D CDTI ECUs to get water damaged, especially when exposed to rain and leaves...

That's because GM, in their ultimate wisdom, decided to put it right where all the residue of decomposing leaves end up, underneath the area between hood and windshield.

A dozen or so #ECU in a car are joined by an #infotainmentsystem of some type, which are typically a large #touchscreen on the #dashboard (the headunit) and possibly a couple of auxiliary units for the rear seats commonly run some version of #Android. In the 2021 Honda Civic, its headunit runs an archaic Android dating back to roughly 2012.
