Rewilding can be defined as restoration to promote self-regulating complex ecosystems through restoring non-human ecological factors and processes while reducing human control and pressures. This definition is consistent with most definitions and general usage. The relation to restoration is sometimes discussed. The Society for #Ecological #Restoration defines restoration as 'the process of assisting the recovery of an #ecosystem that has been degraded, damaged, or destroyed.' This readily includes rewilding.
