Proton can get hacked any time, like any other company, and also the new Swiss law can force them to hand over all that personal data in plain text, so you can mess up your privacy really badly. Ronja<p>I am looking for an Email Provider that isn’t based in the US (so not Nadir or Riseup) and that is not owned by big tech companies. After some research (european-alternatives.eu/alternative-to/gmail), I have found two options:<br>* Posteo<br>* Proton<br>Has anyone used either of these? I would love to hear your thoughts on which is better and why. If you have any other recommendations, please feel free to share them!<br><a href="https://chaos.social/tags/email" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>email</span></a> <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/EmailProvider" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>EmailProvider</span></a> <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/TechIndependence" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>TechIndependence</span></a> <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/DataPrivacy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>DataPrivacy</span></a> <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/AlternativeTech" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AlternativeTech</span></a><br><a href="https://chaos.social/tags/Technology" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Technology</span></a></p>

El Duvelle<p>Anyone out there using <a href="https://neuromatch.social/tags/Tutanota" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Tutanota</span></a> for email? I'm thinking of using it, would like to hear good or bad experiences, or if you know of a reliable alternative with good privacy and ideally more environmentally-friendly. 💌</p><p>Edit: just heard of <a href="https://neuromatch.social/tags/Posteo" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Posteo</span></a> which seems a more environmentally-friendly alternative. Any feedback on that?</p><p>Edit 2: actually Tutanota is also env-friendly, e.g. their servers run on renewable energy: <a href="https://tuta.com/sustainability" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">tuta.com/sustainability</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p><a href="https://neuromatch.social/tags/EmailProvider" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>EmailProvider</span></a></p>
Ann Antidote (n.p.) 🏳️‍🌈🔞♾️🐾🔗🐐<p>Yeah! I sent my monthly newsletter yesterday. It contains the dates of the next workshops (and yeah, I already stripped the text out of any links as well of "adult" words as this already happened before etc), and some concerts and film screenings. </p><p>Some email providers are blocking it (and blacklisting my email address) based on the content. The recipients are not even aware that the email was blocked, so maybe they are not getting other emails with similar keywords in the text. </p><p>Am I the only one seeing that this is highly problematic and that it transcends "user/consumer preferences"?</p><p>Imagine Deutsche Post deciding not to deliver you some letters based on whatever their impression of acceptable content is?</p><p>what can be done about this? either for the specific situation and at a major scale perspective?</p><p>we speak about content filtering in instagram etc, but these are email providers.</p><p><a href="https://chitter.xyz/tags/emailprovider" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>emailprovider</span></a> <a href="https://chitter.xyz/tags/strato" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>strato</span></a> <a href="https://chitter.xyz/tags/contentdata" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>contentdata</span></a> <a href="https://chitter.xyz/tags/enshitification" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>enshitification</span></a></p>
