Today, President Joe Biden is apologizing for the US Government's role in their version of Indian Residential Schools.

All across Turtle Island, Indigenous peoples were subjugated, diminished, killed, erased. Governments tried to end their bloodlines and their cultures.

Many cultures and people did survive, but at horrendous cost that continues to be felt today. Some languages and traditions were lost forever.

The focus was on children because they were the future. Indoctrinate them, and you end the culture. (Russia is doing the same in Ukraine)

It was Genocide across the American Continents.

Gentle reminder that the last residential school in Canada closed in 1998. That's some years after I graduated high school, meaning there were children my age living through this atrocity. It wasn't history for me, it was current events but not news because noone would tell us about it, and still try to hide the truth (as our Alberta Premier says anti-vaxxers were the most discriminated group in her time).
