Alessa Giampaolo Keener<p>Buried in this article abt the 6yo <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Virginia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Virginia</span></a> boy who shot his <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/teacher" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>teacher</span></a> is this telling statement about the child's <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/SpEd" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SpEd</span></a> "care plan". Clearly the school failed to provide <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/FAPE" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FAPE</span></a> if they were requiring the parents to chaperone their child throughout the day. I'm not a fan of more restrictive environments for young <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/students" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>students</span></a>, but if a <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/school" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>school</span></a> doesn't have the resources to ensure a safe environment for all kids under their care, then a change should have been made. <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/edutooter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>edutooter</span></a><br><a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2023/01/21/richneck-elementary-school-shooting-warnings-downplayed/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/20</span><span class="invisible">23/01/21/richneck-elementary-school-shooting-warnings-downplayed/</span></a></p>
