But some train (and other transport) companies are already covered by #FOI.
So there's some ready-made ideas for things to request from the latest addition.

UK development body still has $700m invested overseas in fossil-fuel assets
In 2020, BII committed to “aligning” its “future” investments with the #ParisAgreement and since then it has doubled its renewable-energy funding.
But, as of 2023, the last year for which data is available, it also still had a large portfolio of #gas-fired power plants across #Africa and south #Asia.
Multiple freedom of information (#FOI) requests by Carbon Brief reveal #FossilFuel energy and related projects worth nearly $700m (£526m) on BII’s books, which represents about 6% of its assets in 2023.
The FOI results also show that, at the end of last year, BII still had $70m (£53m) of unspent funds earmarked for foreign fossil-fuel companies in the coming years.
BII has not breached its own investment guidelines and says its fossil-fuel exposure fell further in 2024 as it aims to “manage and responsibly exit” these assets.
@Bellingen
If anything, it shows that the #Labor party is parranoid (rightly so IMO) about #CorporateMedia and how it misrepresents information to discredit anything that is not churned out by the RWNJs sausage factories. This fear induced strategy is of course a double-edged weapon. Nothing good will ever come out of govt ‘secrecy’ no matter which side of politics the govt represents.
A democratic system of government ?
"The Australian government is refusing freedom of information requests at a rate not seen for a decade, data shows, prompting concerns for transparency and accountability."
"Transparency International Australia chief executive officer, Clancy Moore, said the FoI system was an essential tool in ensuring accountability and integrity, but refusal rates suggested “important information about the functioning of government is being kept from everyday Australians”.

I was at a conference earlier this week talking about #FOI. And late requests (so late they're just not useful) kept coming up.
So some advice: complain more.
Some responses that did come back: https://clairemiller.net/2025/05/freedom-of-information-in-the-news-week-ending-16-5-2025-foifriday/
Several people have suggested writing to our PM in Welsh after he insisted everyone who wants to come to the UK speaks and writes English at a higher level than most people born here. But also that everyone must speak English, ignoring our other native languages.
Welsh is protected in law!
One person replied that the letters would probably get binned.
In which case follow up with a Freedom of Information request.
