We are knee deep in an escalation of fascism in our nation. As the police state expands and overreaches into many of our communities, the summer months are some of the hardest for our most vulnerable! Policing of low income neighborhoods increases in the summer with more outdoor time and the inside of county jails reach extreme high temperatures with no proper ventilation or air conditioning. This year alone, Massachusetts Bail Fund has been working expeditiously to post over 700 bails (1400+ last year!), trying to get as many people out of pre-trial incarceration as possible. As a grassroots organization led by formerly incarcerated and directly affected people, we are seeded deeply in the communities we fight for and are doing everything we can to fight back against carceral expansion, repression and fascism while keeping people free. Along with our robust bail program that supports hundreds of people in accessing freedom across five counties, we also: -Put together 200+ bags of immediate supplies for those re-entering back into society to survive the first 24-48 hours after release including personal protective equipment, hygiene items, naloxone and items that jails usually steal from people. -Organize with our community partners Material Aid & Advocacy Program for House Keys Not Handcuffs - against carceral municipal policies in Boston that "sweep" and jail unhoused people and towards evidence based solutions like housing, harm reduction and dignified non coercive care. -Facilitate those who have ICE detainers to access and post bail with as much information and back end support as possible, including rapid response -Conduct a long term research project and author an organizer's toolkit on pre-trial social control that helps everyone in Massachusetts learn about the ways that pre-trial court systems function, the power they wield and points of intervention. -Support protest movements for justice by educating people in understanding bail process, lock ups, arraignments and structures for jail support and practicing solidarity with those who are criminalized in their daily lives. -And SO much more….. Your donation contributes towards a THOUSAND ++ people to geting free from wealth based detainment this year (and this fundraiser's goal of $100,000 gets 100 people free!) and keeps our organizing, advocacy and project work going!
