CBC had a story on US farmers being upset about Trump's tariffs:

cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/ca

For reference, #NorthDakota and #SouthDakota voted roughly 2/3 for Trump. Farmers are a fairly conservative bunch by nature, and it's reasonable to assume that the percentage of farmers voting Trump was even higher.

It is difficult to muster much sympathy for them. #FAFO, as they say.

On #TheWeekend, Fmr #Republican Congressman Denver Riggleman said:

During T****'s first term, we had to bailout #farmers $20 Billion dollars. Now that we're decimating the #IRS, how will they get the money to bail them out THIS time?"

Also...

"While 4 dead soldiers return from #Lithuania [and the Market crashes], T**** decided it was more important for him to be on the golf course. What more do we SANE people need to do to convince his supporters, "HE DOESN'T CARE ABOUT YOU?"

Tariffs threaten to upend markets that Missouri and Kansas farmers depend on: 'Absolutely bad news'

U.S. row crop farmers produce enormous quantities of food, and they depend on selling lots of it overseas. They thrive under free trade policies.

They're also big spenders, laying out billions on the heavy equipment, seed and fertilizer they use, making them doubly vulnerable to tariffs.

@MeanwhileinCanada american #Agribiz is already talking about being “made whole” on this stupidity and the sales they will lose

government payments aka socialism will increase as it did in pandemic to about 1/3 of #ag revenue

Whereas there were CONTRACTS to pay #farmers to improve ecosystem services on their land to benefit us all. these were Reneged on

Finally these same agri types were decrying #moralhazard of homeowners being bailed out of their mortgages 08-11

From a #farmer

To all #US #farmers
who voted for #trump
(especially Nebraska)
who are losing their farms
(Many 'thoughts and prayers')
But
do not worry
The Big #Companies (JD #Vance 😃) that will buy your lands and farms (at bankruptcy costs)
perhaps will allow you to continue working on them
(for just a little less than the minimum wage).

Do NOT forget to remember Trump in your prayers
You Owe all your 'fortunes' to trump.
