Okay, #Argon40's #ArgonOneUP looks cool...

My problem is that it's on kickstarter and closed and not available from Argon40 or any of their #distributors and #pricing info is rather hazy, with some sites suggesting it to be around U$D 400-ish.

Thanks to @geerlingguy for looking into it, even tho I wished there would've been just like a @frameworkcomputer - Style #Mainboard to shove a #CM5 into a #Framework13 or #Framework12 but alas, that's not it.

@fedora Sadly, #Lenovo wronged me as a professional when they refused to support their "#UbuntuCertified" #ThinkPad #P15v's #WWAN module ( #Fibocom #850GL, based on #Intel's #XMM7360 baseband).

  • And that was a €3,5k+ professional device!

Add to that the discontinuation of any #wired - #USB "ThinkPad Compact Keyboard with #UltraNav" and the only reason I've not retired my #X230Tablet for a @frameworkcomputer / #Framework13 or god forbid some #DIY abomination is my belief in #UseLonger!

The recent #Framework13 models are too new to work reliability. I wish it was different but I can't recommend them yet.

They're not working out of the box and really just for enthusiasts as of today. It will be a great machine in half a year but for now it's v quirky.

- Suspend doesn't work (ofc)

- WiFi card and driver having issues, have to disable power management, and also network manager power management

- amdgpu driver causes flickering

It's all getting worked on..

I recently switched one of my apps (beekeeper studio) from an appimage to the flatpak due to issues with the new version.

I'm happy that it works, but I noticed that on my highdpi screen on the #framework13 the cursor is TINY when in the app, but full size when outside of it, and in other apps.

I feel like i've seen this issue before with #flatpak and #highdpi #linux

Any ideas to fix, or is this something the app creator needs to fix?

I tested different linux distros for my new #framework13 .
Xubuntu 24.04 -> didn't work
Lubuntu 24.04 -> worked, but not stable
Ubuntu 24.04 -> worked
Debian 12.0 -> didn't work
Mint 22.1 -> didn't work
Kubuntu 25.04-> worked

I'll choose Kubuntu 25.04.
Like the UI and I use the majority of programms now on my lenovo on xubuntu.

Now I have to find time for setting up the framework13.

RISC-V mini AI PC that fits inside a Framework laptop shell revealed

DeepComputing has developed a reputation as a pioneer of small form factor RISC-V PCs. The company is now accepting pre-orders for its newest product, a mini AI PC that can replace the mainboard of the Framework Laptop 13.

The device will be based a mystery SoC with a 64-bit 8-core RISC-V CPU running at up to 2 GHz, along with an NPU, GPU, and VPU to cover all of the AI bases. The mini PC supports up to 64GB of LPDDR5 RAM and NVMe SSDs.

The only SoC that advertizes the same specs is Eswin Computing's EIC7702X, which is two Eswin EIC7700Xs stuck together. The dual-CPUs, two 4-core SiFive Performance P550s, are rated for up to 1.8 GHz each, paired with GPUs based on Imagination IP.

The device will start at $300 on its release in Q3 2025, with a $9.90 deposit required today. If it follows the pattern of the first DC-ROMA Framework mainboard, it will likely be sold as a standalone board, inside a mini-PC enclosure, or pre-assembled inside a Framework Laptop 13.
