Wuzzy<p>I wish we live in a world in which the fact a <a href="https://cyberplace.social/tags/software" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>software</span></a> is <a href="https://cyberplace.social/tags/FreeSoftware" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FreeSoftware</span></a> does not grant you any extra credit, but is just the expected default. And, that every <a href="https://cyberplace.social/tags/proprietary" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>proprietary</span></a> software is considered a social burden, selfish, the "awkward one", has to explain and justify itself, etc.</p><p>Currently, it is free software that constantly must explain and justify itself, is treated as "awkward", etc. Which is so annoying.</p><p>It's not us who take away your <a href="https://cyberplace.social/tags/freedom" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>freedom</span></a> to use, copy, share and modify.</p>

(And I’m talking about tech geeks in particular, who should damn well know fucking better.)</p><p>Complain about <a class="hashtag" href="https://fe.disroot.org/tag/openstreetmap" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#OpenStreetMap</a> rather than regularly attend mapping parties and help improve the data.</p><p>Complain about bugs and missing features in <a class="hashtag" href="https://fe.disroot.org/tag/freesoftware" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#FreeSoftware</a> rather than fix them.</p><p>Complain about <a class="hashtag" href="https://fe.disroot.org/tag/xmpp" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#XMPP</a> and other <a class="hashtag" href="https://fe.disroot.org/tag/federated" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#federated</a> platforms rather than onboard people and help improve clients.</p><p>Complain about the government, but never do the bare minimum (vote) or get involved at a deeper level.</p>

Even in those, proprietary software is holding it by the throat.</p><p>But I forgot about 3 important words:</p><p>it's our fault.</p><p>It's the software industry that built all this closed software.
