Chances are we all have suffered or know someone who is suffering from depression. It’s natural to want to help those we care about, but choosing the right approach is important. Claudia Giolitti-Wright, a psychotherapist in New York, cringes when clients with depression report back on what their friends or family members inevitably say to them: “But you have so much to be grateful for!” It is, she believes, the No. 1 worst way to respond when someone opens up about their mental-health struggles. “I saw a photograph in the Guardian Saturday magazine that had been taken by a photographer friend of mine. When I messaged him to say that I liked it, he asked if I might be able to send him my copy of the magazine when I finished with it because he hadn’t been able to get hold of one. I was happy to pop it in the post to him.”

I had a really great #AroAce community evening today.

I learned about #RelationshipAnarchy and the #Smörgasbord and we discussed why people in amatonormative couple relationships, who turn from two "I"s into a "we" find it so hard to use "I-messages" in conflicts, but have no trouble using "you-accusations".

This pride month I want to learn more about different relationship types and possibilities and want to find a definition of "friendship" for myself.
