XabMore Fediverse stuff!It's been a month since I launched my personal instance on GoToSocial (it's really nice!) and, since I'm limited on my little space, every now and then I check my profile to see how it looks from other instances - usually Mastodon ones.It's funny how much the interaction discourse changes in this sense: likes very often disappear (no big deal, I like that they exist but I'm not interested in these gamification dynamics being visible around)Boosts and comments, however, seem to almost always be there, so that's okay I guess? Joshua Byrd 💽So I was getting a bit bored of my locally hosted <a href="https://bne.social/tags/GoToSocial" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#GoToSocial</a> account, not really knowing what to do with it, so I'm experimenting with an old idea I had of seeing if I can run a single-user fedi instance for $0 per month using free-tier cloud software and a free domain.Last time I tried this was with a <a href="https://bne.social/tags/Mastodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Mastodon</a> install on an Oracle cloud VPS until they suspended my entire cloud account after about a year or so with no notice and no way to appeal or anything.I realised that Google's free-tier offering wouldn't be enough to run a full Mastodon instance, but it would be more than enough to run GoToSocial.Anyway I just did the migration for my 44 followers and it seemed to work.
