I appear to have hit a snag with my #GoToSocial instance.

A particular account got 'stuck' at the top of my timeline, and for what felt like forever, the timeline wasn't refreshing.

Looking at it on a web browser was OK, but any iOS app showed the same symptoms; i.e. not refreshing!

It took me a while to work out what was wrong and I ended up having to block said account. That seems to have freed it up; BUT I have lost all the posts in between!

So, if you would be so good as to re-post everything you posted over the last 2 hours, that would be greatly appreciated 😂

#MyFediJourney #fediverse

And welcome to everyone who's now following my new account 👋

So the back story. About a month ago, I set up my own self-hosted single-user Mastodon* instance using @yunohost and @gotosocial .

I pulled my contacts over from my old Mastodon account at @Vivaldi .

Unfortunately, around 1000+ contacts didn't pull across (I'm guessing simply because the instance was so new).

Anyways, 30 days later, I tried again, and this time it appears to have (mostly) worked 😁

So. Welcome to all the folks I'm now seeing/who are seeing this post from @aj 😁

* Before you type the comment, yes I know GtS isn't Mastodon, but I'm accessing it using the same apps I used for my old Mastodon account to mainly talk to people on Mastodon, so functionally it serves the same purpose.

I've been trying to get #n8n working with #GoToSocial using a community node that is meant for Mastodon but it looks like that community node wants the follow scope to be attached to the API key and GoToSocial doesn't seem to want to do that. 🤔

Continued thread

So over to the command line. First, a sudo apt update.

Debian fetches the updates as it should. It says:

"Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
Reading state information... Done
1 package can be upgraded. Run 'apt list --upgradable' to see it."

Apt list --upgradable mentions: monarx-agent/bookworm 4.2.72-master amd64 [upgradable from: 4.2.62-master]

Okay, so with that done, let's try the three commands YunoHost recommended:

sudo apt install --fix-broken produces the following output:

"Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
Reading state information... Done
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 1 not upgraded.
1 not fully installed or removed.
After this operation, 0 B of additional disk space will be used.

Typing sudo dpkg --configure -a gives us the following:

And let's try sudo dpkg --audit:

"The following packages are only half configured, probably due to problems
configuring them the first time. The configuration should be retried using
dpkg --configure <package> or the configure menu option in dselect:
yunohost manageable and configured self-hosting server"

Okay.

So.

Any idea what's going on here?

What should I try next to fix this?

Some bad news. Something's gone horribly awry with my #YunoHost deployment. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!

This is a two-part issue. First, the smaller of the two issues: Phanpy has gone AWOL. It's visible in some places, but not others.

Phany is listed as an app on the front page of the YunoHost UI.

But go into Admin, and it's not listed as an installed app.

Go to the URL it was installed at, and it's just a blank screen.

And yet. When I SSH in, and see what's in the /etc/yunohost/apps folder, Phanpy's files are still clearly installed on the server.

Now, here's where the Phanpy situation is a big issue... [1/3]

Hi all, I've just setup my own #GoToSocial instance, so it's time for an updated #introduction

I'm very much into #yoga and #meditation and everything related to that. I'm trying to learn #Sanskrit because its a beautiful language and also in order to be able to read text like the #BhagavadGita #Upanishads #YogaSutras which greatly inspire me.

I'm from the #Netherlands and work in #science in the field of outdoor #AirQuality I may occasionally share something about that, but this is not a work account (and any opinions are my own).

I love #photography , mostly related to #nature #weather #clouds #trees
I love the #forest, I'm grateful to live at the edge of the beautiful #Veluwe nature area.

I love growing food in my #garden using #organic #permaculture and #RegenerativeAgriculture inspired methods, I'm dreaming of tending my own #FoodForest some day.

Unfortunately I'm operating at half power thanks to #LongCovid since Feb. '22, so most of my hobbies are in "maintenance mode".

I'll post in English, my Dutch account is @kedara_nl
I also have a personal website @ https://kedara.eu where I #blog, tend a #DigitalGarden / #wiki and try to contribute to the #Indieweb #smallweb communities.

I've done my fair share of instance hopping and had hoped to solve that by starting my own Akkoma instance, but found GoToSocial more suitable to my needs in the end. I hope to stay here now indefinitely.

Let me know if you have similar interests and I'll be happy to chat!

👋🏻 I thought I'd post this #introduction

I’m a #productivity enthusiast. I’m interested in #tech

I started this #GoToSocial instance as a mini-project; especially as my coding skills are very, very, limited, so a little bit of education for me. So far, so good.

In my spare time (not that there is much of it) I’m a #CubScout Leader #ScoutingUk

I have an amazing wife and between us we have 5 children - well, I say 'children' but they're all grown up now!

I follow #Formula1 My favourite team is #McLarenF1
I also support #AFCBournemouth 🍒

I find #lego to be extremely cathartic and enjoy building when I can.
I #read a lot; usually crime, mystery, thriller
I have also started listening to #audiobooks

I have a #pixelfed account too, where I post a lot of my photos - check it out here: @doonytime

As part of my foray into #selfhosting I also started a Friendica instance... but I'm not sure what I'm going to do with that.

#Nextcloud is where I now hold my documents etc - again self-hosted via a VPS.

It would be great if you would boost and follow so that I can start to build this instance out... 😉
