I suggest Congress enact a bill that this level of comprehensive study determining how a virus spreads, be done at the very *moment* there is an #outbreak ... (so that, oh, I don't know, we don't get to the pandemic level??)... of any kind, on animals or humans.

And that it be truly independent

It's like they've been, pardon the pun, playing chicken with our lives with #Covid, and now our foodstock, with #H5N1 and we've gotten lucky so far with our lives on that one.

The more I think about this, the angrier I get.

It took HOW MANY YEARS for them to do this type of study where they could legitimately show that

#H5N1 is EVERYWHERE on infected dairy farms.

It's in the air, large particles AND small particles

It's on the equipment

It's on their skin

It's where the milk comes out

It's. Every. Where.

How many infected cows have been killed? How many workers have gotten infected?

I suggest...

Even in an article like this stating very clearly that #H5N1 is #Airborne with both large & small particles masking is still downplayed.

"Face shields that can block large droplets and large aerosols without the discomfort of masks might be one way to reduce cow-to-human infections among workers."

God forbid you be a little uncomfortable. Better to catch a potentially deadly mutated virus. Yep. Sign me up. No discomfort for me!

“There is a lot of H5N1 virus on these farms"

“It is everywhere"

"We need to be expanding biosafety measures, biosecurity measures and trying to control where the virus is.”

“There is a lot of H5N1 virus on these farms,” says Seema Lakdawala, an associate professor of microbiology and immunology at the Emory University School of Medicine and senior author of the new study, which has yet to go through scientific peer review. “It is everywhere. We need to be expanding biosafety measures, biosecurity measures and trying to control where the virus is.”

The finding—that the virus is “everywhere”—fits with what has been seen in previously published work, says Richard Webby, who studies host-microbe interactions at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. “It’s a ridiculously contaminated environment,” Webby says.

So far no human-adapted mutation has taken off, but "with so much virus on affected farms, there’s a chance that future human-oriented mutations could arise"

We don't need another pandemic while malicious, anti-science lunatics are in charge of U.S. public health. #H5N1 #HPAI #BirdFlu #dairy
