blog! “Gadget Review: DisplayPort to HDMI Showdown”
From crummy old S-Video, through SCART, VGA, and HDMI - the world of video connectors has never been entirely cross compatible. Oh, sure, with enough boxes and adapters you can usually get an old device to talk to a new one. But results are never guaranteed and quality can take a hit.
HDMI was supposed …

Here is the desktop set up on the Mango Pi Pro #RISCV #SBC. As mentioned earlier it is running minimal #LXDE on top of a vanilla install of #Ubuntu server 24.10.
I have peeled back a few things, such as audio since the basic Ubuntu install does not have the stuff to run #HDMI #audio (I could do look into this more but eh). I will do some more tinkering with the ISO from the official Mango Pi website. Lets see how that goes
@TheZeldaZone I know.
Cheap garbage cables can be a real pain in the ass. Ask me how I know!
And as soon as one needs more than 1080p60 4:2:0 8bpc and/or 2m cable lenght, shit gets expensive in HDMI territory...

I don't recall you dabbling with direct #hdmi capturing, but the cross-arch usage caught my attention.

China develops its own HDMI alternative GPMI
China's GPMI connection is faster than Thunderbolt 5 and charges devices with twice the power. Huawei and other manufacturers see it as an alternative to HDMI.

Anyone tried an hdmi industrial camera on a lever-arm stand with a suitable lens as an #ElectronicMagnifier - and the image displayed on a suitable tv / monitor?
I can see everything I want on aliexpress - except for the lens.
Which lens is going to let me view around a A4 / foolscap area?
Most of these setups are being used as microscopes with lenses giving around 150X magnification. Far too much for reading a book.
