Not the most photogenic #tea picture I've ever taken, but I thought it would be good to post something for #IDAHOBIT. A lot of cis people in my life don't seem to realise how bad things have gotten, especially here in the UK... "Protect Trans Lives" is not just a defiant slogan but a plea for help.

The tea is Daejak Nokcha from Dong Cheon in Hadong Province, Korea. It tastes faintly of toasted corn; I like it as a calming, comforting breakfast tea.

A reminder that today, May 17th, is the International Day Against Homophobia and Biphobia (IDAHOBIT)

“And yet, we know that “All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights” represents a promise not yet fulfilled — for LGBTIQ people across the world, and for everyone experiencing the suffocating impact on their lives of diverse layers of inequalities.”

FINALLY posting this after working on it for what seemed like weeks worth of morning art streams!

This is a callout post to every other #Lesbian on the fediverse like myself that fits this stereotype, especially the transbians.

I was going to put it off for a bit longer, but this seems like a decent way to celebrate the International Day against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia ( #IDAHOBIT )

Might post a text-less version of the image later, along with some closer-up views of some of those background details, because we spent a LOT of time on those on-stream.

Probably #aphobia's most disturbing consequence is "corrective #rape". 😬

Corrective rape is when a person is raped with the goal to turn them straight. And no, it doesn't "work". 🙄

This has actually happened to #asexual people multiple times. But why?

The reason is allonormativity, i.e. the (false) dogma that everyone deep down craves sex and likes it. Corrective rape is the sad and "logical" conclusion of this dogma. 😫

#Aphobia may come even from the #LGBTQ+ community: There's this idea that #asexual and #aromantic people do not belong to the LGBTQ+. A common excuse is we're not "oppressed enough". 🤡

Here's the thing: ALL #aces and #aros violate #heteronormativity. No matter how you twist and turn it, it's impossible to be ace/aro AND fully comply with heteronormativity.

Excluding people who violate heteronormtivity is patently absurd.

I'm aro-ace, and therefore LGBTQIA+.

More common examples of #aphobia:

> Showing "pity" towards aces and aros for "missing out" (we're fine, actually 🙄)
> Pretending the definitions are complex (did u read Wikipedia? 😛)
> Claiming that sexual and romantic attraction are equal for all (it suggests only cuz someone loves you they also want sex with you 😬)
> Framing aros/aces as yet another "invented" identities (my identity is very real, thank you 🙄)
> Calling aces/aros narcissistic for some reason 🤷
