I'm so happy to see our neighbour on the ice with a hockey stick. He used to play for the Romanian national ice hockey team and I always find it amazing how these guys have a feeling for whether the ice is good or not. Nobody has ventured onto the ice after just one week of frost but him, although it's been very cold here, and sadly it's supposed to thaw slowly from tomorrow.

Back from skating the full length of the #RideauCanalSkateway this morning! I don't know that I agree with the "Very Good" conditions they indicated this morning (although I see now it's down to just "good"), as the ice was really crunching away under my skates in some spots. The wind was also pretty nasty, but at least it was at my back on the return trip.

Went out skating on the Rideau Canal today - conditions were great! I really hope they get the whole length open this year (seems likely)!

I usually try to skate the length every weekend it's open - how many times will that end up being this year? We'll find out!

I'm about 95% recovered from my bout of COVID, but I still haven't been doing a lot of outside running lately.

Thus, my YouTube video this week is something entirely different! I had to do a little sound editing in places (obviously the drone doesn't pick up audio) but the ice sounds are quite real! It was crazy.
