As reported in the article:

“A government spokesperson said that “only Labor has a concrete, real plan to see our emissions reduce while ensuring our economy continues to grow”.

“As we’ve consistently said – gas has an important role to play in the transition as the ultimate backstop for renewables,” they said.”

Approving #Gas #Extraction for #Export DOES NOT play a role in #Transition. SO Why Approve them? There is bugger all revenue from #PRRT so it’s not money. It’s not #jobs really considering how few jobs we’re talking about in near full employment conditions and it’s not about the #economy because our economy grows pretty much in line with population — #Immigration.

WHY IS #LABOR #GREENLIGHTING ? I’m fed up too (and a party member as well). It’s either money for mates, graft and corruption or else the buggers haven’t got a clue. Not much to choose from then…

You know what would go a long way… for #AlboPM to have a heart to heart talk with the electorate. Tell us why this is happening so we can understand the reasons behind it. What we don’t need is #SoundBytes that brushes us off. Yes… you #Anthony, start talking to us!

What this lawyer says about #youthCrime is not only ‘factual’ (he ought to know what he is talking about) but he is only telling us what every informed citizen about this highly politicised issue has known for decades (ney, centuries). Youth crime is a #SocialIssue best addressed by socially responsible policies which have nothing to do with #policing or the #Courts and criminal laws.

“"The vast majority of the children I deal with come with some kind of trauma, whether that is familial or family abuse, abuse while they have been in residential care, some kind of cognitive disorder or intellectual disability… developmental delays, some kind of disadvantage, trauma."

The Melbourne lawyer says while community understanding of family violence is growing, it doesn't always publicly appreciate the long-term impacts on children.” (Source: abc.net.au/news/2025-05-31/aus?

If less of our #treasure was systematically transfered to the upper percentile of the moneyed population, there wouldn’t be so many ‘social’ drivers to youth delinquencyand crime.

#poverty and #illiteracy (or lack of education) are Political Choices made by our govt. We can change that. We can make a real difference to the socially disadvantaged portion of our society. But only if we wish to do so -- at the ballot box.

Sure, we’ve all got it tough. But why should we think we’re any better off just looking after our own interest if we leave so many people out of our decision making. We’re just perpetuating the thieving and making it worse over time. If we do nothing to stop the rorting, our great grandchildren will be youth crime statistics no matter how well we’ve done for ourselves. We’re all, basically, very selfish.

ABC News · How Australia's states and territories are grappling with youth crimeBy Elise Kinsella

Well… we tried. WA Gas field expansion approved by #SenMurrayWatt.
There was no need for more gas supply in WA (for export only) except to fill #Grifting #Corporate #coffers. It’s not aabout #jobs, it’s not about #tax receipts (the #PRRT is ridiculously low), it’s not about royalties (First Nations’ people get bugger all). It’s about the RAPING of the land, and increased #POLLUTION and political decisions made for MATES and not the #electorate nor the #Environment

I am deeply offended by #Labor ‘s continued disregard for the environment and the policies voted on by the National Conference. I regret to say that #AlboPM cares more about staying in govt than about anything else. Handed a quasi-mandate, gifted an LNP in disarray, the Leader of the Party is proving too timid to radically change Australia for the better. Fucking disappointment!

Remains to be seen if the Left has any gumption during this second term to pressure the Leader to do what he was voted in to do FFS.

Linking better #pay to #productivity only fuels the fallacy that productivity increases come from workers working harder. This is a non-sequitur.

Higher wages are required to maintain and improve livelyhood in society, yes. Business owners wishing to improve productivity must reinvest a portion of their profits to modernise production tooling and methods as well as expending funds into ‘research’ for such improvements.

Let’s not give the #grifting system ammunition to squeeze yet more ‘production’ out of workers using old and ineficient #tools and #processes.

Linking higher #wages to productivity is just as damaging as linking so-called wage #spirals to #inflation.

#Economics101 - don’t fall for #neoliberal economic scams

Well, well, well… Angus Deaton of the International Monetary fund (imf.org) finally coughed it up:

“Like most of my age cohort, I long regarded unions as a nuisance that interfered with economic (and often personal) efficiency and welcomed their slow demise. But today large corporations have too much power over working conditions, wages, and decisions in Washington, where unions currently have little say compared with corporate lobbyists. Unions once raised wages for members and nonmembers, they were an important part of social capital in many places, and they brought political power to working people in the workplace and in local, state, and federal governments. Their decline is contributing to the falling wage share, to the widening gap between executives and workers, to community destruction, and to rising populism.”

It takes time for boffins and know-it-alls to get the picture. I’m just gald some of them have finally come to their senses.

Economics 101 - all productivity increases are solely due to partial reinvestments of profits into more efficient production engineering and processes, not wage earners working harder. Anyone who says otherwise is only looking to increase profits at someone else’s expense - usually the workers.

I really don’t know what’s hard to comprehend about that.

I have a simple message for all #academics. If you are worried about students and your own career (because the education sector is not what it should be due to govt policies) then Join Your UNION and make it right.

Simple, tried and tested method to make your life and its outcomes that much better. Guaranteed. The more union members the better off the whole of society. Proven time and time again. Look it up!
