#Intifada Update June 12 2:40 EDT:

The Intifada against Trump and ICE is spreading, we have serious fighting in multiple cities and National Guard deployments to multiple cities.

Both civil wars and revolutions often start like this. The Syrian civil war certainly did.

As of now we have:

National Guard deployed in LA, Marines about to deploy
Fighting continues in LA anyway

Fighting in San Francisco too

Fighting in Seattle

Cop cars set on fire in a police parking lot in NYC

Cop cars smashed in a battle in Atlanta

Fighting in Austin, Texas
Texas Governor Abbot mobilizing the TX National Guard himself against protesters

National Guard being deployed by Trump to 5 more "deep blue" cities some of which don't even have fighting yet.

So far the pattern looks like this:

In cities not experiencing ICE raids and where police do not attack protesters, the protests stay peaceful.

In cities with a critical mass of community defenders, ICE raids are resisted by force. Fighting then continues after the initial raid is defeated or limited by defenders.

In cities where police assault peaceful protesters, force is sometimes (not always) met with force. Fighting may then continue for the duration

“The UK’s pro-Israel lobby in context”

by David Miller in Tracking Power on Substack

“The pro-Israel lobby is not only important in the US, but is a transnational phenomenon, fostered by transnational organisations – many headquartered in Israel”

We've absolutely been cast out of the left for no reason other than being too Jewey.

"#Protests against #Immigration and Customs Enforcement deportations that have engulfed #SanFrancisco’s streets this week took an #antisemitic turn on Monday night when a local #Jewish-owned civic engagement hub and community space had its windows smashed and walls defaced with slurs including “Die Zio,” “The Only Good #Settler is a Dead One,” “Death 2 #Israel is a Promise” and “#Intifada.”

“There is no justification for attacking me other than the fact that I am Jewish,” Manny Yekutiel, owner of the #MissionDistrict event space Manny’s, which is in disrepair following the #vandalism and break-in, told Jewish Insider. “My business is not a pro-Israel business. I am not #Israeli. This is not a space that represents Israel in any way.”

Why is it that all across the world these protests are in diaspora neighborhoods instead of at Israeli embassies?

Dragging a big ass cross through your Iocal Jewish neighborhood on Shabbos during Passover yelling about killing babies and shit is not protesting Israel it's protesting your local Jews. And with some very very old anti-Jewish symbolism.

"#Essex Police are facing fierce criticism over alleged “two-tier policing” after anti-#Israel #protesters marched through a #Jewish area of Westcliff-on-Sea on #Shabbat during #Passover.

Chanting “Stop killing children” and “#Intifada,” dozens of #demonstrators paraded through the residential streets as Jewish families were returning home from #synagogue.

Footage shared online shows the marchers – some at the front dressed in #religious garments associated with #Christianity and carrying a large #cross – making their way through Westcliff, a suburb of Southend. Some held bloodied fabric representing dead children."

Today in Labor History March 16, 2003: Israeli Defense Forces murdered American activist Rachel Corrie in Rafah by running over her with a bulldozer during the 2nd Intifada. She had been defending a Palestinian home that the IDF was trying to demolish as part of their collective punishment of the Palestinian people. Corie was a member of the International Solidarity Movement. She had travelled to Rafah as part of her college's (Evergreen State, in Olympia, WA) senior-year independent-study project to connect Olympia and Rafah with each other as sister cities. Under Trump, her college would likely be stripped of federal funding for allowing such a project, and Corie, herself, might have been deemed a terrorist.

According to a January 2025 report, by the United Nations Office of Coordinated Human Affairs, 92% of all housing units in Gaza are now either destroyed, or severely damaged. 1.9 million of Gaza’s 2.1 million residents are internally displaced. And 345,000 face catastrophic food insecurity.

Continued thread

The story is from the beginning of the #intifada and before #11September2001

It's also about a year before a massive anti Muslim #pogroms in #Gujarat that killed thousands of people. I never realised how close in time all that was, I knew it was all really this century, but I didn't realise it was all within a year.

The story is older than I thought, when I first saw it I wondered if it was getting attention to manufacture consent for the USA invasion of #Afghanistan but it's before that even hit triggered.

I also know questioning who named the #GujeratPogrom that, I think the name fits, but there is a big gap in both time and space between that and the antisemitism in Russia and the rest of Europe that originally got the name.

It would make more sense if the #WestBank #Pogroms came first. The Israeli left and right have been calling each other Nazis since before Israel existed. #BenGurion called #Jabotinsky "Vladimir Hitler" so it's entirely expected that settler violence gets that label from liberal Israelis, but the earliest mention I've seen of that is 2008?
