Peter Relph
It doesn't matter to an MMT accepting person, whether they are progressive or reactionary. Or come to that, even if they are not an MMT accepting person.

Any more than it matters to someone governed by the facts of nature (everyone of course) whether they are progressive or reactionary, or believe in the "theory of gravity", if either of them step off a cliff, the same basic underlying forces take equal effect.

Like 'the theory of gravity', 'Modern Monetary Theory' is an explanation of what 'is', not a policy or something to implement. It is just the facts, & woe betide anyone who runs their life as if either were not so. There are financial cliffs (2008) as well as physical cliffs. (Ask the Lemmings)

Fascists can & do accept what MMT describes & use it for their own ends in the same way as a socialist or anyone.

MMT just 'is'.

Fascist Neoliberals, which is all Neoliberals, know that they can spend billions on their oligarchic mates & masters, whilst falling back on the old publicly accepted nonsense to deny anything to the poor.

Socialists, were there any, could use the same understanding to provide for the poor whilst removing the ill-gained wealth & hence power from the Oligarchic Fascists by taxes.

Socialists may take MMT & conjure up a JobGuarantee, because it jumps out of the economic essence of it, but it is not an intrinsic component of MMT.

What I am trying to say is that MMT is not 'Progressive' or 'Regressive', it is just the essence of macroeconomics as it exists.

#MMT #JobGuarantee
