"Willie and the Hand Jive" is a song written by #JohnnyOtis and originally released as a single in 1958 by Otis, reaching #9 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and #5 on the #BillboardRAndBChart. The song has a #BoDiddleyBeat and was partly inspired by the music sung by a #chainGang Otis heard while he was touring. The lyrics are about a man who became famous for doing a dance with his hands, but the song has been accused of glorifying #masturbation.

For the music nerds in the house: I would be remiss if I did not point out that "World's Greatest Sinner" has an early soundtrack by Frank Zappa. He said this was the world's worst movie, but was willing to put his name on his work (unlike Edgar G. Ulmer who worked on the cinematography under a pseudonym).

"So Fine" is a song written by #JohnnyOtis and performed by #TheFiestas. It reached No. 3 on the #USRAndBChart and No. 11 on the #USPopChart in 1959. Jim Gribble is credited as the writer of the song, however, Johnny Otis filed a lawsuit claiming the copyright of the song, which had been recorded in 1955 by The Sheiks, a group that included #JesseBelvin. Otis' side won the case. The song was ranked #69 on Billboard's Year-End Hot 100 singles of 1959.

Johnny Otis was an R&B pioneer who had been around for years (yes, the same Johnny Otis who had a hit with "Hand Jive").
