Make no mistake. Judge Merchan is a traitor to the American people and he just sold out our professed system of democracy. If the rule of law does not apply -- if there are no real consequences for the most powerful people in this country -- then the rule of law means NOTHING. There will be more vigilantes. More assassinations. Because the justice system is broken and now people know that they can get away with anything.

So it turns out that Alvin Bragg, not Judge Merchan, is the largely spineless one. Bragg has decided to pause the case, thus preventing the Trump sentencing from being upheld. If there is no accountability, there is no democracy. This is a dark day in America. Have we learned nothing? Fascists will continue to circumvent the law. Trump doesn't care about the Constitution. That requires street fighting.

Our criminal justice system is so petrified of the "appearance" of political favoritism that it is actively engaged in political favoritism.
The notion of "judicial flexibility" is a disguise for fear of doing the right thing in the face of political pressure.
When you don't delay sentencing after a jury conviction solely because you wish to give the convicted felon a "fair" chance to win an election,
THAT IS NAKED FAVORITISM AND PUTTING A FELON ABOVE THE LAW.
Judges must stop normalizing criminality in the name of political fairness.

My understanding is that Judge Merchan is giving the Trump team sufficient time to make their case regarding immunity. I don't like it; but it seems like proper law.

How can this be seen as justice being done. #Trump has been favored by #JudgeMerchan because he is a presidential candidate, not for any reason based on the merits or lack thereof of his case. He was found guilty. He should be sentenced as soon as punishment has been decided. Suppose he wins. No matter the decision, the public will have no choice but to believe the judge has favored him again, sentenced him more lightly than warranted, no matter the actual sentence.

Judge Merchan's act of cowardice in delaying Trump's sentencing until after the election reveals nothing less than the incurable incorrigibility and hideously backslapping nature of our sham of a criminal justice system. Trump has received more lucky breaks than ANY American. And if we can't hold the richest criminals accountable for their wrongdoing, then Lady Justice is far from blind.
Denial, Defiance, Dismissiveness. You might think the #NBC journalist is talking about #Trump: Denying he even knew #EJCarroll; Defying the rules in #JudgeMerchan's courtoom by gesticulating and muttering; Dismissing the results of the election!!! But you'd be wrong. Points for alliteration but that's about it.
Some of the judicial issues we have are court/judge self infliction. The likes of Giuliani, Bannon, Jones, and #Trump get their high
