The state of Missouri once again leads the nation in Black homicide victimization rates.

The Violence Policy Center used 2023 data from the FBI and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to put together its regular analysis of homicide victimization in the country. In Missouri in 2023, the victimization rate for Black people was 54.9 per 100,000 people, compared to the national rate for Black people of 26.6 per 100,000.

How about some good news? KCUR, #KC's NPR affiliate held an emergency funding drive following the slimy Republicans axing money that was approved bipartisanly just a few months ago.

The drive seems to have been a success.

Wouldn't it be great if #PublicMedia turned out stronger after this trial? I'll tell ya what, as a recurrent donor to various public media entities, I have a vested interest in them all. Seems I'm in good company.

Our city here in the 'burbs of #KC does not have negotiated trash+recycling contracts. Instead it's a free-for-all where residents are on their own to pick a vendor and hope for the best. And then we get a parade of trash trucks down our road each week as each company picks a different day. It's super annoying.

One perk? Grandpa's trash contract expired. But I still put it out, and most weeks some random truck grabs it. HA!

Today five guys with a bunch of machines came and took our dumb invasive Mimosa tree. And they ground out its stump. The whole process, including meticulous cleanup took just a hair over an hour. What pros!

Here’s the before. Looking forward to sharing the after a bit later.
