As I recall, the <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/Amiga" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Amiga</span></a> <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/Kickstart" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Kickstart</span></a> was also developed like this from Sage-IV (later Sun), workstations by transferring the new kickstart directly into the Amiga memory with a special hardware module - the extra handling of these memory ranges is still present in current ROMs.</p>

Andrew Myers<p>I’m trying to not use <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/VSCode" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>VSCode</span></a> anymore. I’m completely disillusioned with anything Microsoft, have gone to Linux and don’t miss anything at all about Windows.</p><p>I’ve tried <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/VSCodium" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>VSCodium</span></a>, which is ok. But it’s still VSCode. I’ve tried <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/KateEditor" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>KateEditor</span></a> which is also ok, I’m not quite as comfortable in it as VSCode/Codium though, in particular doing git diffs and project wide search are not as good as Code AFAICT. It also lacks multiple cursors.</p><p>I’ve tried <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/helix" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>helix</span></a>, and <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/neovim" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>neovim</span></a> (<a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/lazyvim" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>lazyvim</span></a>, <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/nvchad" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>nvchad</span></a> and <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/kickstart" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>kickstart</span></a>). I can use it for simple things, but as soon as I get into a deep coding session I don’t feel productive. Especially if I need to move or rename files, search across project, or compare / diff with git. I also miss being able to drag files into splits with the mouse.</p><p>I actually just feel like Code has me trapped TBH. I hear people say they’re uber productive in vim, but even though I’ve used it in some form for 30 years, I don’t feel I’m close to that</p>
hkz<p>SMD electrolytic caps replaced on the <a href="https://social.chinwag.org/tags/A1200" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>A1200</span></a>, board cleaned, bathed and dried and seems to still get up to the <a href="https://social.chinwag.org/tags/kickstart" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>kickstart</span></a>. <br>This one was recovered in a "junk box" at a fair, it was together with other bits and pieces of dismantled laptops, so in the future I'll have to check it for other problems, as it might have ended up there for a reason.<br>For now, I'm content that caps won't eat the board away while I work on something else.</p>

One thing I like about that helmet: once per month a car driver bothers to stop beside me in order to complain about my brightness. I really appreciate the irony.</p>

Jim Bodie<p>This is my evening tonight. I am kickstarting (automated Linux install) 13 laptops. The system owner wants to ship them to the training site tomorrow so I said I'd try to get all 13 kickstarted tonight. It took a bit of work, but I have all 13 in progress. Now I just have to wait a really long time as these systems are older and slower. neongod<p>Turbo Tomato runs on OCS/ECS Amigas and needs only 1Mb RAM. But note that it requires Kickstart 2.0! As I have an A500 with more than 1Mb, I could softkick it. I used mkick from Aminet. It's not that straightforward, but can be done.
